83年11月1stアルバム『土俵王子』に続く、86年4月2nd（ミニ）アルバム全8曲。インディーズ史上初のオリコンチャートイン・シングル85年11月「心の旅/ミシシッピ」A面1曲を追加してCD化されたのが88年。それから19年、遅過ぎるがようやく再び陽の目を見ることとなった。楽曲群は88年CDと同一で、ブックレットは86年オリジナル+αという形態なので、復刻盤としては完璧な形と言える。ちなみに88年CD化の際のブックレットに関しては内容が大きく異なり、いとうせいこうの「永久未完小説」（87年8月に行われた有頂天「大脱走ツアー」のパンフレットに掲載されたものの再録）等が掲載されていた。
ケラが最高傑作と自画自賛している87年6月メジャー2ndアルバム『AISSLE』（全16曲約38分）同様（いや、それ以上か）非常に実験的要素が強い作品だが、『AISSLE』と決定的に違うのは、所謂歌謡曲的なポップさが少ないということと、1曲が少々長いということ（全9曲約37分）だ。そのため、個人的には『AISSLE』程繰り返し聴いていないし、また一気に聴ける作品にもなっていないと思う。一般的には2作品共「名盤」と評されているが、その内容は大きく異なるので要注意だ。
ちなみに私が本作で一番好きな曲は、“空手バカボン”の「ホワイト･ソング」のリメイク版（マイナー調の歌謡曲で、実験的要素皆無）だ。ケラの85年7月12"「愛のまるやけ」収録バージョンよりも歌･演奏共に遥かに洗練されている。
メジャー時代のシングル曲B面を収録したベスト盤もリリースされたことだし、後は『AISSLE』の再発を待とう。

『BECAUSE』は宝島から1986年にリリースされ、有頂天がキャニオンレコードとメジャー契約する前の作品です。88年に一回CDでリリースされたものの、カセットブックを縮小したような感じになってしまいました。しかし、今回はカセットブックを復刻という事で有頂天ファンにはたまらないですね。何がすごいかというと、まずケラ氏といとうせいこう氏による“対談”、しりあがり寿氏による“ピノキヲ漫画”、有頂天の歴史(前半)が少し分かる“真説有頂天史”など、実におもしろい内容。おまけにカセットブックには未収録だったシングル『心の旅』まで収録されており、銭形金太郎でこの曲を知った方にも十分楽しめるはず。ただ、このアルバムを聴いた後でそのアヴァンギャルドさにショックを受けるかと思います。

あの人気番組『銭形金太郎』のオープニングテーマにも使われている「心の旅」が収録！おまけのブックレットにはひさうちみきお、しりあがり寿の漫画やいとうせいこうとケラの対談も載っていて楽しめます。「WHY」「ホワイトソング」など名曲揃い！
