　ハープの弾き語りでデビューし一躍注目を浴びた女性アーティスト（写真で見る限りけっこうかわいい）の第２作は、壮大な物語を想起させてくれる、組曲形式のような大作。
　まず、ハープの音がとてもきれい。
　スティーヴ・アルビニが録音に参加した成果か、ハープの音色が粒のように際立っていて、心地よく耳を刺激する。
　加えて、ヴァン・ダイク・パークスが担当したバックのオーケストラが、ファースト・アルバムのハープ一本での弾き語りのときのような危うげな不安定さを払拭し、彼女の音楽に控えめに彩りを添えている。
　なによりも、前作よりも格段に成長した歌声が、彼女の音楽世界に説得力を与えている。時には力強く、時には幼児のように舌足らずで、時には何もかも包みこむような包容力を備えた歌声は、実に表現豊かで、ファンタジーな歌詞に息吹を吹きこんでいる。
　いったん聴き始めたら最後まで離れられない、不思議な魔力をもった音楽。

プロデュースが、敬愛するジム　オルークだったので、なんの予備知識もなく買ったんですが、なんだかよくわからないな、ストリングスは変な感じで入るし、英語の歌詞も長いばっかりでさっぱりわけわかんないし、、。
といってるうちに、日本語の訳詩を片手に連続3回聞いてしまいました。
うーん、はまる。
　
歌の感じは、（ビョーク＋ケイト　ブッシュ）÷２みたいな感じなんですが、ハープの弾き語りは独特の曲回しで、最初違和感をもったストリングスアレンジも、ハープの演奏を引き立て、広がりをもたせています。
歌の世界も独特で、神話のような童話のような物語が、イマジネーションの洪水のようにハープに乗って溢れでてきます。

声とハープの録音はスティーブ　アルビニ。オーケストラルアレンジはヴァン　ダイク　パークス。そしてミックスは、ジム　オルーク。
オルタナの音楽職人2人と、70年代の西海岸のカルト音楽職人が、がっぷり四つに組んだこの作品は、聞くものをいやおうなしに異世界に引きずり込みます。
