ジュリーニによるブルックナー演奏の精華と呼べる一枚。
９番はシカゴ響とも録音しており、これもまた名盤である。
今回のウィーン・フィルとの録音は、テンポで好みが分かれるかもしれない。
緩慢にも聴こえかねない推進力の粘りっこさは尋常ではない。
極上のオケを信頼すればこその構成。それを貫くジュリーニの美学の最高潮。
輝かしい弦楽器のアンサンブルによる、官能的な旋律のカンタービレに、
極上の満足感・重量感がある。ほどよく配分された緊張感は、
ときに艶やかな「うねり」を寸分の隙もなく構築する。ほんの少し集中力が欠けても、
生み出すことができない「絶頂」の演奏は、円熟期のジュリーニがたどり着いた境地を、
知ることができる、芸術家の記録であり、語り継がれるべきブル９演奏の、
完成形のひとつであろう。このようなタイプのは、甘美にすぎるかもしれない。
だが、それこそがブルックナー演奏の「鍵」ではないかと感じる。

実に味の濃い演奏です。特にシューリヒトの淡々とした演奏に比べると、あまりの脂っこさに少々閉口してしまうことも正直あります。ジュリーニ流味付けで、ブルックナーの意図したものがいささか伝わり難くなっているのも事実でしょう。
しかし、いつものことながらジュリーニのカンタービレの美しく高貴なこと！！普通の指揮者がここまで歌わせたら、曲は溶解し、縦の線を失い、陳腐な歌謡曲になってしまいます。しかもそれをブル９という、神に捧げられた壮大な作品でやってしまうところに、ジュリーニの凄さがあると思います。
ウィーンフィルの美音に酔い、ジュリーニの棒に微睡む。まさに官能の極みです・・・。

旧盤も良いけど、こちらはさらに荘厳にして崇高な響き！
遅いテンポながら、集中力の途切れない素晴らしい演奏だ。
３０分近くかけた両端楽章に挟まれたスケルツォは他の追随を許さないレベル。
６８分！この曲は巨大じゃなくてはならない！
まさにミステリオーソ！
