とにかくメロディーの良さ、六重奏ならではの音の響きに浸ってしまいます。
ブラームスがベートーベンを避けるように四重奏曲ではなく六重奏曲を作ったなどと言われたりしていますが、現代で聴く我々（特に私個人）からすると良くぞこの曲を書いてくれた！と喝采を送りたい気持です。(特に1番作品18）
ここに納められている2曲はそれぞれ恋愛がらみのエピソード（晩年の肖像からは想像できません）がありますが、強ちその話も本当なのでは？と感じてしまう程、ロマンティックで素晴らしい曲です。ここでは割愛しますがエピソードも頭に入れて聴いてみると良いですよ！
値段も手頃だし、ブラームスが作った六重奏曲はこの2曲のみですから買ってみても良いと思います。私も、何かのついでにたまたま購入しただけなのですが、それ以来どっぷりはまっています(笑)

　２７歳のブラームスがどうやら失恋した後に書いたらしい弦楽六重奏第１番。第２楽章は、ルイ・マル監督のフランス映画「恋人たち」にも使われて有名。ジャンヌ・モロー主演のこの映画は、かなりどろどろの恋愛もの(さすがフランス映画)だった記憶があるが、このCDを買おうと思ったきっかけは、アイザック・スターン他の弦楽六重奏第１番を聴いて、とても感動したため。２番も聴いてみたいなあとおもって捜していたら、アマデウスQのこれが、かなりのお値打ち価格で発売されていた。
　演奏は精練されていて響きの美しい名演。有名どころの第二楽章はさすがに美しい。これを聴いてるとブラームスが失恋した後の嘆きも聞こえてくるようである。２番は始めて聴いたが、これまた美しい哀愁を帯びた曲。弦のアンサンブルが心地よい。
　でも、やっぱり音の色つやというか哀愁を帯びた色っぽさというかは、スターン版の方が上(聞き慣れてるせいもあると思うが)のように感じられる。よって星４つということで。

　若き日のブラームスの内に秘めた想いが、六挺の弦の厚みのある響きに乗って歌われてゆく「弦楽六重奏曲」がふたつ。ブラームスが27歳の1860年に完成した『第１番 作品18』と、32歳の1865年に完成した『第２番 作品36』。
　今回聴き比べてみて、『第１番』の音楽に強く惹かれました。それぞれの楽章にあふれる歌の美しさ、のびやかで情熱的な音楽の息吹に、若きブラームスのたぎる想いが切々と吐露されているように感じられたからです。とりわけ、ルイ・マル監督の映画『恋人たち』で使われたという第２楽章、変奏曲の音楽がいいですねぇ。ヴィオラで始まる美しいメロディーに息苦しさを覚えつつ聴いていくと、途中でそれが明るい晴れやかな音楽へと転じ、最後に再び情熱的なテーマが、今度はチェロによって静かに回想される。アマデウス弦楽四重奏団の第１ヴァイオリンを担当するノーバート・ブレイニンの弦の響きを始め、六人の弦楽器奏者の琴瑟相和す演奏。素晴らしかったなあ。
　『弦楽六重奏曲 第１番』が、1966年12月。『弦楽六重奏曲 第２番』が、1968年３月の録音。
