5.0 out of 5 stars ヨッフム/大家の技倆, 2006/12/17
　ヨッフム/ベルリン・フィルによる1965年録音のいわゆる旧盤である。ヨッフムの演奏は弦楽器の音色が幾分ほの明るく、しかも透明度の高いところに特色がある。その弦の響かせ方に南ドイツ的な軽妙なニュアンスがあると評する人もいるが、水の流れにたとえると、緑陰からさす木漏れ日を少しく浴びた清流のような感じである。
　例えば第2楽章では通奏の「流れ」にブルックナーらしいピチカートがリズムを刻むが、これは（いかにも日本的な比喩であるが）渓流で鮎が水面から水飛沫をとばしてはねているような印象すら受ける。瑞々しく清潔感のある調べである。
　その一方、第３楽章のtuttiではピシッと整った強奏で迫ってくる。そうした緩急のつけ方がブルックナーの音楽の呼吸と見事に合う。第４楽章のフィナーレへの道程も、反復繰り返しのなかで徐々にエネルギーが充電され、これが最後に一気に放出されるように感じる。
　こうしたヨッフムの演奏の特色はこの４番に限らず、どのブルックナーの演奏にも共通するが、縦横にすぐれた大家の技倆だと思う。
