5.0 out of 5 stars 「奔流」と「理詰め」の絶妙なマッチング, 2007/8/5
　ジュゼッペ・シノーポリ（Giuseppe Sinopoli)は、存命していれば２１世紀のクラシック音楽界の風景を大きく変えたであろう逸材です。戦後の1946年イタリアのヴェネチア生まれ。ユダヤ系移民と言われますが、天才肌の音楽家です。2001年４月２０日に演奏中、心筋梗塞で倒れ不帰の人となりました。

　本盤は1985年１月ロンドンの教会での録音ですが、残響が豊かでマーラー特有の音の「奔流」が存分に味わえます。1904年のマーラー自身による初演もケルンの会堂でしたから残響はもしかすると当時も意識されていたかも知れません。

　演奏そのものはシノーポリらしい分析癖、「理詰め」が随所で感じられ、あらゆる音が明瞭に再現されますが、それをうるさく感じさせないのは、この残響効果との絶妙なマッチングゆえかも知れません。激しいダイナミズムと腺病質なリリシズムが常に交錯しますが、見事な統一感は保たれ堂々とした名演です。シノーポリの抜群の才覚を知るうえでも必須の１枚だと思います。

「大地の歌」では絶賛しましたが、フィルハーモニア管弦楽団はクレンペラーの時代から
とにかく響きが硬い。それでなくてもシノーポリはレントゲン技師のような解釈をしてきた人なので、
ほとんどのマーラーは硬く肩が凝る演奏です。
しかし、この５番だけはすーっと入ってくる演奏です。
