現エヴリシング・バット・ザ・ガールのベン・ワットが、
８３年にチェリーレッドレーベルに残した唯一の大傑作アルバムがこれです。
オリジナル９曲に加えて、
８２年のミニアルバムSummer Into Winter EPの５曲が丸々収録された超お得盤でもあります。
ベン・ワットは、８０年代当時のせつな系音楽「ネオアコ」の範疇に位置づけられていますが、
青春ギターシャカシャカバンドとはひと味違った、アンニュイな独特のサウンドが魅力的です。
アルバム全編リラックスサウンド満載で、ボーっと聴いていると、自然と癒しの頂点までイッちゃいますね。
シングル曲Some Things Don't Matterや、
タイトル曲North Marine Driveは、正しく後世に残したい超名曲です。
もちろんSummer Into Winter EPの楽曲も素晴らしく、全１４曲、彼のやさしいボーカルに包まれましょう。

僕は、いつもこのＣＤのジャケットの写真（ＣＤの時代でもジャケットと呼ぶのかは不明ですが）を見ながらこれを聞いている。この写真を撮っている撮影現場の風景を想像してしまう。金髪というか写真では黄色の髪の毛の女子は特定出来る。他の子達は下の写真に入っていないけれどみんなずぶ濡れだったんだろう。撮り終わってみんなで談笑しながら着替えたのだろうか？それともずぶ濡れのまま帰ったんだろうか？？寒そうな、なんせ「ノース・マリン」ですから。いろいろと空想にふけさせてくれる逸品です。でもみんな濡れてからどうしたんだろう。単純な写真なんですがね。いいです。
