Album Description

2006 Issued Digitally Remastered 40th Anniversary Edition of the Small Faces Debut Album that Originally Released in 1966. Gary Moore Remastered the Set from the Original Master Tapes and this Edition features an Additional 11 Tracks with Versions of Songs which Only Ever Appeared on French Eps. The Sound Quality is Far Superior to the 1996 35th Anniversary Version and Fans Are Sure to Appreciate Hearing the Original Album with Some Decent Bottom End and the Improved Clarity of the Bonus Tracks. The 20 Page Booklet Includes Insightful Sleevenotes from Record Collector Contributor Andy Neill and is Crammed with Great Pictures and Memorabilia.

子役時代よりﾌﾟﾛとしてのｷｬﾘｱを積み、桁外れにｿｳﾙﾌﾙな歌声を聞かせるSteve Mariottを中心に生粋のﾓｯｽﾞが集まり結成されたSmall Faces。The Whoのﾗｲﾊﾞﾙとしてﾛﾝﾄﾞﾝ・ｲｰｽﾄｴﾝﾄﾞよりﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰ。あまり知られてはいないが、Ronnie Laneが中心となりﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞは結成された。ﾓｯｽﾞのｽﾗﾝｸﾞで有る「顔役」のFacesとﾒﾝﾊﾞｰ全員が小柄で有った為、Small Facesと命名。ﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰﾋｯﾄ#6にしたってJimmy Reed直系の2ﾋﾞｰﾄ、R&B,Bluesを咀嚼しながらより若さに任せた切れ味の鋭いｻｳﾝﾄﾞを既に自分達の物にしている所が素晴らしい！ﾙｯｸｽは一級のｱｲﾄﾞﾙ並みにして本格派ﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞのﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰ作。しかしこの辺りのﾌｧﾝとのｷﾞｬｯﾌﾟが後年Steveさんを悩ませ脱退へと追い込む。#9は歌い出しからの歌詞が後のLed Zeppelin/Whole Lotta Loveと同じで有る。この辺は当時売れっ子ｾｯｼｮﾝﾏﾝだったJimmy Pageの暗躍が想像される。Steveさんの歌に隠れがちだが、他のﾒﾝﾊﾞｰにしても実力派揃い。ここでのKenny JonesのDrを聴けば、どうしてWhoが彼を指名したかが解る。前編火の出る様なR&B魂が炸裂！ﾌﾞﾘﾃｨｯｼｭﾋﾞｰﾄﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞの最高峰です！

96年にリマスター・ボーナス付きでCD化された1stアルバムの40周年記念盤。
デジパック仕様で、ブックレットも新たに作られたものが入っています。

本編の音質は前回も良かったのですが、今回は低音域が充実し更に良くなっています。
大きなポイントはボーナストラックの方。別バージョンが6曲ありますが、内5曲は前回と同テイク。しかし「Come On Children」以外はマスターテープが見つかったのか、前回は盤起しだったものがクリアに聞けます。
他の編集盤で聞けたシングル曲の追加で、66年前半までの活動が見えやすくなったと思います。
