2005年韓国で1000万人以上を動員、歴代4位となる大ヒットを記録した映画のOST。久石にとって初めて手がけた韓国映画となる本作で日本人として初となる第四回大韓民国映画大賞最優秀音楽賞を受賞。さらに、韓国のアカデミー賞ともいわれている権威ある映画賞である大鐘賞でも最優秀音楽賞にノミネートされた。南北戦争時下の山奥の村、トンマッコルを背景に、はじめは互いに対立していたこの村に流れついた韓国軍、北朝鮮人民軍、米軍が、やがて互いの存在を認めあっていく内容をコミカルに描いた映画。分断の悲劇をファンタジーとヒューマニズムで表現したこの映画に、久石のメロディが作品のポテンシャルを極限まで引き出している。

【アーティストについて】
宮崎駿監督作品、北野武監督作品をはじめ数々の映画音楽で特に知られる日本を代表する音楽家。近年韓国・中国・香港に活動の幅を広げ特に韓国では日本人で初めて大韓民国映画大賞にて、最優秀音楽賞を受賞するなど活躍が目覚しい。

映画の不思議な雰囲気を久石さんの美しいメロディーがさらにインパクトを与え、映画にひと味もふた味も加えてました。

映画で気に入った人はもちろんのこと、寝る前に流す音楽を探している人にもいいかもしれません。

久石譲氏のメロディは美しく優しい。映画やアニメで多数の作品を世に送り出している久石氏だが、実をいうと毎回同じようなメロディだと思っている。もののけ姫にしても、千と千尋にしても、ハウルにしても旋律は違うのだが、何か似たような感じなのだ。トンマッコルも前に聴いたことがあるような曲だと思ってしまった。しかし、それでも久石氏の曲には飽きがこない。丁度、波や風の音を聴いていて飽きがこないのに似ている。戦闘シーンのBGMもハリウッドアクション映画のようにヒステリックで耳障りなサウンドになることなく、どこまでも美しい。宝石のような素敵なこの映画に日本人が参加していることが嬉しい。CDの仕様は装丁が少々寂しかった。ケース裏面と帯は日本語であるが、他は全部韓国語。解説書は全カラーで素適に出来ているのだが韓国語のまま。代わりに白黒の対訳がついているのは有り難いが、直訳で味気なく対応するページを探しながら読むので非常に見づらい。また、各曲の紹介がないので、この曲はどこで使われたのか大まかにし分からない。メインテーマを主旋律とした曲が多いので各曲の解説が欲しかった。丁度、輸入盤に対訳をつけた仕様。パイレーツ・オブ・カリビアンOSTのように数万単位での売り上げを見込めないので仕方がないが、本体が輸入盤で価格は国内版なので解説書は作り直して欲しかった。

２００６年の韓国映画は、当たり年でしたね。

グエムル
そして、トンマッコルへようこそ

もう、韓流などと侮れないかもしれません。

この作品の監督は、これが初監督作品だそうで。
日本映画界がもう少し融通が利いたら、
こういう作品に恵まれるのでは？
と思います。

新しい風に期待したいものです。
