アルバムのタイトル通り「アジア」をこれでもかってくらいに感じました。陽サイドと陰サイドがあり、陽サイドは「久石さんらしい」音楽でポピュラーな路線の曲が揃ってます。アジアを意識してつくられたそうですが、本当にアジアンテイストに仕上ってます。陰サイドは音楽家としての久石さんの味が出てます。ミニマル音楽をアジアンテイストに仕上げていて、久石さんの作曲家としての原点を垣間見たような気がしました。陰と陽に分けて、一つの区切りを付けてるのもいいですね。
全体的に落ち着いていて、やはり久石さんの曲はメロディの骨格がかなりしっかりしてるから、腑に落ちる音楽になるんだろうなって思いました。
今回は久々の久石さんのピアノもフィーチャーされていて、ストリングスといい感じで…。003「Venuses」がこのアルバムの中でインパクトが一番強かったです。やはりCMで使われていたので、メロディが入りやすく、「綺麗」な曲だと思いました。008「Hurly-Burly」は「久石さんらしくない曲だな」って思いました。なんかお茶目な感じがしました。006「Zai-Jian」は落ち着いた感じのピアノ・ソロですが、個人的には久石さんぽい泣ける感じの曲にして欲しかったなぁ...、って少し思ったりもしました。
アジアなひと時を充分味わえました♪

音の魔術師 久石譲さんが　アジアをテーマに まさに 音を”Compose”した ”陽sideと陰side"の二部 から成るAlbumだ〜〜”陽”の部の　一曲目の「Asian X.T.C.」 印度楽器のシタールとタブラに誘われるように聴こえてくる 久石譲さんの ピアノの音色が深く美しい〜〜　どこか強くノスタルジーを感じさせるギター（DEPAPEPE） ピアノ タブラの「Welcome to Dongmakgo」（ソウル）〜〜　バリ島での　子供たちのコーラスから始まり タブラとシタールを従えピアノ ストリングスなどが　混じり合い 響き合う快感の音世界「Venuses」〜〜　香港「A Chinese Tall Story」の物悲しいまでの"二胡の音色"が心に長く残る〜〜久石譲さんの ピアノ Solo「Zai-Jian」(再見)（上海） のちょっと硬質なタッチでありながら　包み込むような 温かい しかも物語を感じさせるピアノが嬉しい〜〜　趣きがまったく一変する”陰”の部の〜”現代音楽”色の濃い「Asian Crisis」「Hurly-Burly」「Monkey Forest」「Dawn of Asia」なども然程（さほど）違和感なく聴け 且つ音感覚を大いに刺激された！〜〜〜おそらく”アジアの楽器”が持つ”優しい音色”のお陰やら　バリのガムランのリズムなどが織り込まれていること（Monkey Forest）〜スパイラル的に繰り返される高揚感のある周期的リズムが快感になっているのか！？（Dawn of Asia）〜〜久石譲さんも読んだヘルマン・ヘッセの「シッダールタ」にある「傾聴すること」の意味と 喜びを教えてもらったAlbumだった！〜〜

アジアという特定できない広域なイメージが内包された、中国=パンダ＆大連とか北京とかいう方面だけではない大きな激流にまかせっきりの大地の、上海を、台湾を、え？これが現状なの！！？大河口？台湾バナナ砂糖？という驚きを知りながらも租界でフフンとふんぞり返る亜細亜産業の不安定じゃない狐のようなお偉い人々の様になれる作品だと思います。
