レディオヘッドは常に同様のコンセプトで作品ごとに表現してきたが、「アムニージアック」では極限を見せてくれている。

「ピラミッド・ソング」や「ユー･アンド･フーズ･アーミー？」などで聴かせる眩暈のするような高揚感。

「ライフ・イン･ア･グラスハウス」で表現される、ジャズへのアプローチ。

オーガニックな楽器のサウンドを【古代からの響き】と錯覚させるような音響処理はそもそも新しさなど求めておらず、

逆説的に永遠を刻むことを意図しているようにも思える。

それに、アルバム全体で表現される【精神の自由に対する静寂の祈り】は

聞き手に対して共有感を与えることで実は優しい響きをもっている。

「イン・レインボウズ」でもすばらしいバンドサウンドをシンプルに表現してはいるが、どこか上手すぎて寂しい。

どこにも逃げずに【そこに居てくれる】この「アムニージアック」は

いつの時代でも現実として人間を惹きつけるはずだ。

radioheadは大体暗い曲が多いと思うが、その中でもこのアルバムに入っているI Might Be Wrongは秀逸だ。
夜中、誰もいない部屋で、このアルバムを流しながら、森鴎外や、夏目漱石や、太宰治のような短編小説を読んでみると、
ふと気づいた時、普通ではない世界に紛れ込んでしまったような気分になって、背すじがぞくぞくと寒くなる。

だらだらBGMとして流すのには最適な一枚かと思う。
ただし、人数の多い盛り上がったところで流すのはあまり好ましくない。
