ショーン・レノンのセカンドアルバムです。
ショーンの声の音域の狭さをうまくクリアした佳曲そろいのアルバムです。
前作のデビューアルバムはスーパースター・ジョン・レノンの息子ということで、
少なからずプレッシャーはあったと思います。
このアルバムは、ソフトロック的なジャンルを確立しています。深夜にリラックスして聴ける、またＢＧＭとしても抜群の雰囲気です。
付属のＤＶＤもオマケ的な要素ではなく、しっかりと映像を作っています。
ビートルズのファンならもちろん、そうでない方にもお勧めできるアルバムです。

締め切りのナイ製作環境とループする抽象画の中からここまでオンガクをまとめあげたSean Lennonはスゴいなぁと思う。Into The Sunはとても好きなアルバムだった。というか今も好きなアルバム。Into The Sunに収まっているあらゆる要素がとても心地よい。今でも。

だから8年ぶりの2ndという気がしなかった。Friendly FireはMyspaceでアルバムの輪郭を少し見ることになった。とても不思議な感覚。熟成したSean。そしてアルバムが届く。IVmやIII7、dimをはさんで真摯に響く和音を紡ぐDead Meat。変わらない声、歌いまわし、聴き進むにつれ自然と作り手も聴き手も変わっていく和声感覚。シャッフルで掻き鳴らすギターと切ないコードのWait for Meに少々Lennon一族の持つ伝統のようなものがあるかもしれない。無いかもしれない。ParachuteはIIm7⇒V⇒I⇒IV、、あまりにも定まった和声の中で諦観さえ感じる歌詞、大きくはみ出さない事で自分を表現しようとする大胆さを感じずにはいられない。タイトル曲Friendly Fireまで聴き進む内に、ボクらはこの切なさと3連の静かな曲の美しさを自然に受け入れる事になる。本田ゆかの素晴らしいサポートがInto the sunの感覚を残しつつ、リスナーを自分の世界観に一気に引っ張り込むある種の信念の強さはIntu the sunを軽がる超える。大きな大きなミニマル感をうねりのように持ち合わせる人。ラストのあまりに堂々としたメロディーを聴くとこれをさらに熟成させるなら次のアルバムは10年後かな。とか何とか。
