デンマークのメタル詩人、エリック・ラヴン（ｇ）率いるプログレ系メロディック・メタラー６人組の４thアルバム。

前作「FAR　FROM　THE　MADDING　CLOWD」も凄い作品だったが、今作は更にスゴイ。

疾走感、メロディアス度、音数、いずれも１２０％増し。
いずれも達者な楽器陣が奏でる、緩急つきまくりでトリップ感満点の怒涛の楽曲構成の中で、その楽器陣の迫力に一歩も引けをとらないパトリック・ヨハンソン（SPACE　ODYSSEY、ASTRAL　DOORS）の驚異的な変態歌唱が冴え渡る圧巻の仕上がり。

民謡調メロディが超スピードで疾駆する様は時に、ヴァイキング化したDRAGONFORCEを連想させることもあったり、所々でGAMMA　RAYやBLIND　GUARDIANのアルバムで聴いたことのあるようなメロや節回しが登場することもあるが、そんな連想はこの作品の前では些細な事柄に過ぎず、激烈とも表現できるドラマティック・メタルを前にひたすら悶絶。

正直、パトリックの「ｳﾞﾝﾆｮｵオ〜〜〜ｯ！！！」って感じの歌唱は粘着力が強すぎて好みじゃなかったんだけど、この作品に関しては別。このバックのテンションには、このヴォーカルじゃないと太刀打ちできんわ^_^;

捨て曲なし。即効性がありつつも聴きこみも必要な強力な楽曲がズラリと並ぶ様には５つ星をつけざるを得ない。

幻想的なジャケットも、リピートを誘うね！

こりゃ俄然ライヴが観たくなってきた！

デンマークのメロディックメタルバンド、ワザリング・ハイツの4th。

プログレメタル的な展開力とヴァイキングメタル風のフォーキーなメロディを融合させた個性的なサウンドで、クオリティの高い3枚の作品を作ってきたこのバンド。
期待していた今作であるが、一聴したところ前作までの田舎臭さが薄れてきていて、その分パワフルかつダイナミックなメロパワサウンドへとシフトしているようだ。
実力者、パトリック・ヨハンソンの歌唱は、暑苦しいまでのガナり声と、やわらかな歌声を使い分け、それとともに楽曲の力強さは、過去最高といってよいくらいの迫力がでてきている。
一方では、魅力的だったケルティックな部分は若干後退してしまっていて、その部分ではやや物足りないのだが、持ち味であるフォーキーなメロはしっかり残っていて、クサすぎないバランスで聴きやすく配置されている。
個人的には、もっともっと田舎臭くケルトしてくれと思うのだが、一般的には分かり安くなったのだと思う。
パワフルかつヘヴィでしかも濃いので(とくにMANOWARばりの歌が)、田舎メロにゆったり癒されるはずが、かえって耳が疲れるのはいかんともしがたい…(^^;)
ケルトメタル好きは前作を聴くべし。

デンマークのギタリスト、エリック・ラヴンが率いるシンフォニックメタルバンドの4th。
前作での化けっぷりから、本作もすごく期待していたが、
そんな期待に見事答えるような前作路線を継承した濃密な内容に大満足。
心地よいケルティックなメロをこれでもかと乱発してくるプログレッシブな展開が独特な世界を構築している中、
特筆すべきは凄まじい疾走感！全曲疾走と言っていいほど要所要所で疾走してます。
思うに、ストレートな疾走パートの大量導入によって
アルバム全体の統一感も強化され難解な世界観はそのままに、より聴きやすくなっているのではないでしょうか。
それに加え、それを更に盛り上げるパトリック・ヨハンソンの暑っ苦しい歌唱も実に素晴らしい。
毎回毎回彼の一人二役っぷりには驚かされますね。
とにかく濃く激しく熱いこのアルバム、こんなものを出されたら次回も期待せずにはいられないです。
