これは良い！
ここ数年、男女問わず実力派のシンガーがどんどん出てきてますが、
アリシア・キーズとこの人は、ちょっと他の歌手とはレベルが違いますねえ。
声量とかテクニックだけならもっとすごい人もいるんでしょうけど、何というか、
表現力がずば抜けてます。歌から感情が伝わってきます。
楽曲も、クラシカルでありながらも物真似ではない「名曲」ぞろい。
ヒップホップ一辺倒だったブラックミュージックこの１０年を動かす１枚では？

初めて、Ordinary Peopleを聴いたとき、ただの弾き語りなのに歌声やメロディーにさわやかさと力強さがあり、すぐ気に入ってしまった。ヒップホップ、Ｒ＆Ｂ全盛の米国ブラックチャートでも、弾き語り曲が長い間上位を占め続けたのは、そんな魅力のせいだろう。今アルバムでは、普通にＲ＆ＢのアレンジのHeavenがシングルカットされたが、ボーカル、メロディー、アレンジともに良く、その魅力は変わっていない。男性ボーカルの中では貴重な存在。ジャジーな曲も健在、昔のディスコナンバー風など、気持ちのいい曲が多く、通勤時にiPodに入れて聴いてます。

これは秋から冬にかけて、じっくりゆっくりと聞きたいアルバムだと思います。

名前の後ろにレジェンドだの、スターダストだの、フォーエバーだの、
何やら悪ふざけが過ぎるんじゃないかと思う名前の人を、
過去にたくさん見聞きしてきたわけですが
彼の場合、わざわざそういった名前にするほどの自信のありようが分かる気がしました。
元々、引き出しの多い作風の人が好きなんですが、ここ数年ツボにハマるほどの
人や曲に出会ってなかった。
ファーストで既に完成されきった感というか、
ある種の山盛りフォーマットみたいなのが出来てたように思えたのですが、
今回のセカンドはさらに縦に横に広がりを持たせたように思えます。

15年ほど前にレニー・クラヴィッツがデビューしたときの、
あのファーストとセカンドの状況を思い出しました。
1枚目でこれは凄いと衝動をもたらし、2枚目でさらに期待以上のものをリリースした彼は、
その後どんどん世界を制覇していきました。

久しぶりに、これからも発売と同時にしっかり聴いていきたいと思わせてくれるアーティストです。
