　ファイヤーフォックスと言うと、今では別のものを連想しますよね。それに、「冷戦」なんていう言葉、今の若い人には通じないでしょう。

　それにしても西部劇から刑事、戦闘機のパイロットとなかなか肉体派から知的なアクションまで見せてくれる俳優さんですよ、クリント･イーストウッドは。正統派のスパイもの兼アクション兼特撮。まだ、ＣＧが無かった頃の力作です。映像も美しいし、プロットも駆け引きも、社会状況を背景に展開するストーリーもいかにもありそうって感じで楽しめる作品でした。

　今また、クリントブームで昔の作品に光が当てられているのを幸いに、俳優としての彼の演技を楽しんでもらいたいと思います。知的に肉体的にも社会的にも頭脳戦でも、とにかく目標に向かって「戦う男」、クリント･イーストウッドは格好いいですよ。

テレビロードショー等でよく見たりビデオに撮ったりしていたのですが、全部見れるのはＤＶＤだけです。（完全オリジナルはまだガントの訓練シーンなどがあり２０分程カットされているようですが）
ドックファイトでちょっと特撮がまずいかなと言う面もありますが、やはりかっこいいです。
特典映像も多くクリントイーストウッドファン（女性ならマディソン郡の橋でしょうか？）におすすめです。小説もあわせて読むと楽しさ倍増です（日本語訳、＋続編「ファイアーフォックスダウン」夢中になって大学の講義室で購入後見ていました。ごめんなさい）

全体的にシリアスな感じの作品です。前半は潜入の緊張感、後半は寒空の下で繰り広げられるスカイアクションの爽快感と、観ていくに連れて目が離せなくなりました。まだソ連が健在の時代に製作された作品ですから、当時のソ連に対する脅威というものもなんとなくではありますが掴めたような気が…しなくもありません。ハッピーとは言い切れないエンディングもまたいいな、と。
