学生たちが制作する映画「タイクツな殺人者」というのが「人殺しを経験してみたかった。人を殺したらどうなるか、実験してみたかった」という、2000年５月、愛知県豊川市で実際に起きた老婆刺殺事件の犯人である男子高校生の証言を手がかりに作られています。

不条理殺人が題材であり、重いテーマも内包していますが、学生達による映画製作の過程、クランクイン直前の緊迫感、彼らの映画への純粋な情熱。そして、恋と友情が交錯する青春映画としても、とっても面白い。

「ザ・プレイヤー」「ベニスに死す」「アデルの恋の物語」などへのオマージュ（パロディ？）ゴダール、ヒッチコック、コッポラ、カラックス、タランティーノ、等々の監督の名が飛び交う小ネタも映画ファンのオタク心をくすぐります。(笑)　実際はもっと細かくて複雑なんでしょうけど、製作時のスタッフたちの精神状態や考え方、感性のぶつかりあいなど、映画製作の過程を疑似体験できるという面もあります。
学生の物語なので、若手の俳優（35歳の大学生役の田口トモロヲもいますが）が大勢出演しています。それぞれ個性的で良かったのですが、中泉英雄という新人俳優が素晴らしい！！　また、吉川ひなのが、適役というか、圧倒的な存在感で本当にスゴかった。

現実なのか映画なのか？ あの迫力と観客を惑わすラスト。また、エンドロールに付随する映像も圧倒的です。

役者の演技とかは 申し分ありません。青春映画だと思えばいいんでしょうか。最後のシーンは 現実なのか劇中劇なのかわからなくなりました。

　実に奇妙で、コメントしづらい映画です。珍味ですよ、これ。「いわゆる映画好き」な人にはたまらないんでしょう。

　冒頭の立教大での長回しと、ラストの現実と虚構の入り乱れた撮影シーンは圧巻なんですが、あとがもう、つらかったです。

　とにかく彼らのやる事為す事「え〜」「うわ〜」「あは」と私は実際に声に出していたのかどうか憶えてませんが、そんな言葉で支配されていたのは間違いないです。それが監督が意図的に、確信犯的に仕組んだものなのか、単に私のツボを刺激したのか、往年の名作へのオマージュを散りばめたりしてちょっと頭良さそうな作品だから、それがよく分からなくて困りました。

　ただ、前田愛扮する女の子は実務型の助監督的存在なんですが、これがまあ実にモテるところがリアル。ぶっちゃけあんなモテるほどかわいくはないです。ただ、ああいう映画サークルとかワークショップは、撮影前後ずっと一緒にいるから閉塞感あるし、かつ女性率低いわけです。そしたらやっぱああいう実務型姉ちゃんに必然的に群がるんですよ。この映画はそんな実態を暴露したに過ぎない気がします。当初池脇千鶴が出るはずだったらしいんですが、もし彼女だったらこのリアルさは簡単に失われ、違った映画になったでしょう。
　しかも、映画制作という同一の目標に突き進んでいるようで、どこかみんなバラバラで、希薄な関係です。そこも何だかリアルです。
