カナダ・トロント出身、1976年6月6日生まれで、父はビッグバンドのBoss Brassのドラマーであるという彼女、本作は４枚目の初セルフ・プロデュース作で日本デビュー盤だそうです。
　とにかく１曲目のLike a Loverが最高。ものすごくさわやかで涼やかで、歯切れが良くハリがあり、しかもキュートで美しい歌声が素晴らしい。演奏も良く、特にGuide Basso氏のフリューゲル・ホルンのソロがまたいい雰囲気を出して素晴らしいです。ジェーン・モンハイト「サレンダー」の4曲目もゴージャスで悪くはありませんが、エミリー・クレア・バーロウのほうを聴いてしまえば、私は断然こちらのほうが好きですね。
　この１曲目だけでも、このアルバムを買う価値は十分にありますが、続くOn The Sunny Side of The Streetがまた明るく弾けるような軽快なノリ、切れ味で聴かせてくれます。今度はKelly Jefferson氏のテナーサックスが冴えてます。これらのアレンジは基本的にエミリー自身がやっているのだそうで、大した才能ですねえ。その他の選曲も趣味が良く、ラストでLike a Loverのリミックス、別アレンジ版を聴かせるお洒落な構成です。ガチガチのジャズファンより、ポップスも好きな人に特にウケるものと思われます。
　彼女はとにかく声が美しくキュートで、イガラっぽさがないのが好感度抜群だし、歌の上手さも十分。このアルバムは、女性ジャズヴォーカルファンでボサノバも好きな人には絶対のお薦め品でしょう。
　なお、日本盤のほうが入手しやすいと思われますが、日本盤は12曲入りでボーナストラックは11曲目。この曲も地味ながら良いトラックだし、歌詞カード、日本語訳詞、詳しいライナーも付いてくるので、これは文句なく日本盤が良いでしょう。
　また、5枚目？の「The very thought of you」も、Like a Loverのような決定的にキャッチーな曲は無いものの、彼女の歌声の魅力が良く出ている佳作となっております。

美しい歌声に久々にやられました。Anne Ducros以来ですね、本当に歌声にしびれたのは。
聞いてみて下さい、是非。
一見「普通のVocalじゃないか？」と思う人もいるかもしれませんが、jazzがしっかり聞ける人には嬉しいアルバムとなるはずです。

一言で言うと、ジャズ界の松田聖子。透きとおっているが、声量充分。選曲も良いし、あまり時代を感じさせないところが逆に私的には好きです。
