私にヨーロッパ映画の面白さを教えてくれた映画です。大学生の時に見ましたが、衝撃的でした。ジュリエットビノシュがとても美しいです。とても美しいラブストーリだと思います。前からずーっとちゃんとDVDがでるのを待っていました！

「ポンヌフの恋人」は、フランス映画の中でも大好きな1本です。ここに描かれているのは、みじめなホームレス同士の恋愛にすぎませんが、捨てるものが何もない二人だからこそ、命がけで突き進むことのできる愛情の高まりが、痛いほどに伝わってくるからです。

この映画では、恋する気持ちの高揚とともに、航空編隊が青い空に鮮やかなシュプールを描き、地上では画面いっぱいにパレードの行進があふれ、夜には、夜空どころか地面の上にまで、色とりどりの花火がはじけます。ポップコーンのように音を立てながら！

恋愛映画はこの世にごまんとありますが、恋する心の高まりをここまで見事に映像化した例など、あまり見たことがありません。美しい、奇跡のような映画だと思います。

ただし、これは人によって好みの分かれそうな作品です。購入する前に、一度レンタルでご覧になることをお勧めします。

僕はフランス製の純恋愛映画があまり得意ではありませんでした。「ベティ・ブルー」にしろ、「髪結いの亭主」にしろ（ほかにも沢山ありますが）、“永遠の愛のために命を捧げて殉じる”というあまりにも痛々しい究極の愛情表現の描写に、観ていて心が掻きむしられる思いがして、同時に「なぜそこまでして愛さなければならないのか」というような空虚で冷めた気持ちにもなってしまったからです。
でもこの「ポンヌフの恋人」は違いました。ミシェルとアレックス。このふたりの愛は、ともすると他の映画の主役たちよりも不器用でまっすぐすぎて、観ていて危なっかしいのですが、でも最後ではちゃんと“生きて”愛を全うすることを選ぶのです。そこが“理想の純愛主義”映画とは違ってて、「いいな」と気に入りました。「タイタニック」のミニチュアみたいなラストシーンも好きです。
