ナーニアのクリスチャン・リヴェルが中心となって結成されたメロディックパワーメタルバンド、ディヴァインファイアの3rd。今回はメロパワが重視された2nd「HERO」の時より、メロデスよりの作品となった。1stの進化形と言っていいだろう。超スラッシーなリフにシンフォニックなキーボード、さらにはメロパワには珍しい(というか存在しない)ブラストビート主体のドラム、曲の半分ぐらいに入ったデスボイス、どこをとっても一級品である。クリスチャン・リヴェルの暑苦しい声もぴったり合っていて素晴らしい。全体的にテンポは早く時間も3〜5分とコンパクトな曲が目立つ。ギターソロも1st「Gloly Thy Name」のように無茶な速弾き一辺倒ではなく変化に富んでいて嬉しいかぎりだ。メロパワファンは是非!とオススメしたいところだが、ソナタアークティカ系のメロパワ好きには強すぎて受け入れがたいかもしれない。逆にメロデスであるインフレイムス、カルマあたりが好きな人にオススメだろう。特にボーナストラック「Marser&Slaves」なんか聞いたら悶絶するのではないだろうか。3rdでここまでやられたら次が楽しみでしょうがない。これからも頑張ってくれ!ディヴァインファイア!!

スウェーデン産メロディック・パワー・メタルトリオが放つ渾身の３ｒｄフル。

ネオ・クラシカルな要素を多分に含んでスピーディに展開されるメロディック・メタル・ワールドは相変わらず。一聴した感じはヤヴァい位カッコよい。

歌唱、演奏共に十分プロのレベルだし、クラシカル＆メロディックな音は、まさにＭＹツヴォ！

・・・なハズなんだけど、毎度毎度、なぜか煮え切らないんだよね・・・（＞＜

なんでだろ？

クリスチャン・リヴェル（NARNIA）の、どこかNOCTURNAL　RITESのジョニー・リンドクヴィストを想わせる歌唱は、必要にして十分な上手さだし、気持は伝わるんだけど、どこか淡白。録音レベルの問題か？

メロディも、パーツごとには悶絶するものの、やはり淡白。バッキングも、十分テクニカルなことをやっているのは判るけど、やっぱ心に響いてこない。

熱いんだけど冷めている。
クサイんだけどクサクない。
メロディアスなんだけど、メロディが弱い。

要は中途半端なんだろうか？

DIMMU　BORGIRよろしく、北欧デス/ブラックの要素を絡めてみたり、シンフォニーＸよろしく、クラシカル＆荘厳にアピールしてくれはするものの、聴後の印象がまるで残らないんだわ。

まさに器用貧乏そのもの。
もう少しキャッチーになってもいいんじゃないか？
どうにも全体的に小粒な印象を受けてしまうんよね。

といいつつ、次作もまた買ってしまうんだろーなぁ・・・（バカ）

相変わらず高品質なメロディック・パワーメタルを展開してきている・・・曲の展開、スピード等首を振らずにはいられない。特にギターリフの音作りは超好みである・・・が、普段からブラックメタルを好んで聴いていることから、今作でもヤニの咆哮を楽しみにしていたし、またクリスチャン・リベルのクリーンヴォイスとの対比も楽しみであったが、妙に力んだ唱法のせいか、アグレッシブな咆哮が際立ってこない様に感じる。また歌メロの練り込みがたらないのかどこと無く単調である。聴きこめば変わるかもしれないし、余計にアラが目立ってくるかも・・・。ロックバーなんかでかかってたら最高に気持ちよいかも。
