今や大御所の域に達したか？と思われるP.オースティン（vo）の'77年作品。
１曲を除き、全て自らのペンによる曲を並べています。正直、”はっ”とする目玉曲というのは無いかも知れません。
しかし、”R&Bばかりでしょ”という勝手な推測に反して、陽気なカリビアン・テイストがいい[4]や（意外にも）ロックンロール調の[5]、ゴスペルタッチの[6]などなど、曲作りの才にも非凡なところをしっかりアピールしています。
D.グルーシンとL.ローゼンという（後の）GRPレベール立役者コンビがプロデュースしていることもあってか、非常に軽やかで聴き易いのに安っぽさは全くありません。
本当にヴォーカリストとして面白味が出て来るのはもう少し後かもしれませんが、CTIというレーベルで（時期的にも）強力なバックの面子による演奏も楽しめる作品だと思います。
そのバックの面子は、E.ゲイル（g）、S.カーン（g）、W.リー（b）、A.ジャクソン（b）、S.ジョーダン（ds）等が参加。こりゃ、何があっても大丈夫ですね。

パティ・オースティンはシンガーソング・ライターだと知っている人はどのく
らいいるだろうか？当作品は２作目にあたるのだが、第一作目Patti Austinにひき続き、このハバナ・キャンディに収められている８曲のうち７曲が彼女の作品である。デイブ・クルージンが編曲を手がけているこのアルバム。大ヒットはしなかったものの、聴きごたえのある初期パティの代表作である。
