　1987年にデビューし、現在でも破格的な人気を誇る、ハードロックンロールバンド、GUNS　N　ROSESのデビューアルバムは本作でもある「アペタイト　フォー　ディストラクション」である。ちなみに本作は全米アルバムチャート初登場182位であったが、約一年後に全米チャート1位を記録するビックロングセラーヒットとなり、世界中でもヒットするなど、ロック史に輝く名盤というにふさわしい作品でもあるのだ。

　ところでGNR(GUNS　N　ROSESの略)のサウンドスタイルといえば、アメリカンロックンロールというにふさわしいサウンドに、ハードロック要素を追加させたようなもので、本作の場合は、そうの要素に若干へヴィメタル要素も加えられているかのようなサウンドに仕上がっているような感じて、当時流行のハードロックサウンド要素が強く見られる。それに本作はデビューアルバムでありながら、GNRの最高傑作アルバムとしてあげるファンが多いようだ。また本作には彼らの代表曲中の代表曲でもある(１)や(６)などが収録されており、また軽快なロックナンバーの(３)は初期の名曲のひとつだ。個人的に一通り聴いて見ると、全体的に神事とは思えぬほどの良質なサウンドにスラッシュ(G)のテクニカルなギターサウンドにアクセル　ローズのハイトーンヴォーカルが炸裂し、正直デビューアルバムとは思えぬほどの完成度であり、とにかく聴き応えに関してはあまりにもすばらしく、ロック史に輝く名盤というにふさわしい内容だ！これはロックファンであればぜひ聴いてもらいたい傑作アルバムだ！
