プロデュースがマイク・マニエリ。参加メンバーはNYの売れっ子セッションミュージシャン。ドン・グロルニックやスティーブ・ガット、デヴィット・スピノザ等。もともとロック色が薄い人だが、更にロック色が薄まった感じだ。この当時のジェームス・テイラーの音作りに近いかな。この手の少しNYフュージョン寄りのポップスが好きな人にはお薦め。
個人的には、紙ジャケでなくて、1500円ぐらいの廉価版で出して欲しいと思った。

4.0 out of 5 stars 都会的なサウンドに挑戦したＡＯＲとしての”名盤”？(１９８０年作品), 2009/8/11
スティーブン・ビショップといえばデビュー・アルバム”ケアレス”２ｎｄ”水色の手帖”ともアコースティックのイメージが強いが、このアルバムはまるでマイケル・マクドナルドがドゥビー・ブラザーズに加入したかのような変貌を遂げた作品(ちょっと大げさか・・・)。リマスターの出来は、まあまあかな。久々に”The Big House”を聴いて”哀愁マンハッタン”を聴き終えたが、少しばかりレンジが広がったかなー。まあＡＯＲに興味がある方は、夜部屋の中でじっくり聴いた方がいいでしょうか。４曲目の”愛の贈り物”も良い曲です。
でも、このアルバムも本当はアナログレコードで聴いた方がＡＯＲサウンドの良さがよりリアルに伝わってくるものがありましたが、これも時代ってことですか・・・。
