2006年にゲーセンに登場したシューティングの移植版。
元々アーケード版もパソコンと同じシステムで作られていたので、移植度は完璧です。

俗に言う「弾幕シュー」であり、画面を埋め尽くすほど敵弾が出たりしますが、自機の当たり判定が小さく、敵弾の速度も遅めで、自機を直接狙ってくる弾も少なめなので、敵の攻撃は結構避けやすいです。
怒首領蜂などよりも難度は控えめで、誰にでも楽しめる難度になっていると思います。
また、イージーモードや高難度・高得点のモードなどもあります。

敵弾に近いほど得点アイテムに倍率がかかるというシステムもあるため、腕前がそのままスコアに反映され、スコアアタックも熱いですね。
キャラクター（自機）も豊富なので、やっていて飽きません。
グラフィックもかなり綺麗です。

ただ、キャラクターの設定やストーリーは好き嫌いがあると思います。
完全に同人誌やオタクアニメのノリであり、そういうのが好きな方や、そういったものに耐性がある方ならいいと思いますが、そうでない方だと引いてしまうかも･･･
また「消える壁」のあるステージがあり、壁が消えていても当たってしまう、さらに壁の出てくるパターンを覚えないとどうしようもない、という面があるのも問題でしょうか。

でもシューティングとしてはかなりいいデキなので、シューターなら買って損はしません。

失礼ながら、調整不足で出された印象があります。
式神の城はI、IIともに「やる気のない弾幕・敵配置」が特徴的でした。
IIIではその「やる気のなさ」がさらに強調されたと考えてもらって構わないと思います。
ここで言うやる気のなさというのは、敵弾が考えて撃たれていなくてただ垂れ流すだけ、敵の配置はただ出てくるだけという意味で使っています。
もうひとつ印象的なのは、どう考えてもIやIIで出てきた攻撃方法が焼き直しされていることでしょうか。
ゲームでやることがIIと対して変わっていないせいで、余計にやる気のなさを感じてしまいます。
しかし、三面の「消える壁」など斬新なところも少しだけありました。

また、キャラクターごとの能力差が激しくなっているのも特徴的です。
弱いキャラクターはより弱く、強いキャラクターはより強くなっています。

IIIで新しく導入されたの「ハイテンションマックス」システムは、考え方によっては自殺推奨のシステムとなってしまいます。
これはいただけない。
IIで獲得しようとした初心者を突き放す仕様といえます。
難易度はII並みだと思いますが、敵の攻撃がトリッキーなため、体感難易度は上がっていると思います。

移植度は完璧です。
ただし、比較的高めのスペックがあるPCでないと動きません。注意です。

追加要素はステージセレクト（ステージ初め、中ボス、中ボス後、ボスの四箇所、最初から使える）や画面の向き変更・解像度変更、キーコンフィグと充実しています。
またアーケード版を再調整した「DIRECTOR'S MODE」が追加されています。
このモードで一番最初に気づくのは、キャラクターごとの能力差が解消されていることです。
とは言っても、根本はかわっていないのですが。

少しきつい意見を述べてしまいましたが、PCでシューティングしたい人にはぜひともお勧めできる商品です。

最近のアーケード筐体はパーツ的にパソコンに近い為、画質等々アーケードと比べても遜色ありません。むしろスペックによってはアーケード版を超えることも。
ただ３Ｄグラフィックカードが必須となっていますので、メーカー製のパソコンは注意が必要です。
ゲーム内容については、恐らくコレを買おうとしている人はゲームセンターでやったことあると思いますので、特に説明は要らないかな？と。シリーズ物ですし。
