今なお根強い人気を誇る「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」の放送10周年記念企画として、サイドストーリー「鋼鉄のガールフレンド」のリニューアル版が「特別編」として登場。1997年発売版をベースに、新たなシーンを追加し、セーブ・ロードシステムも刷新。アルバム再生機能なども新搭載され、DirectX9.0cに対応した高画質も実現。
ストーリーは、主人公シンジたちのクラスに、一人の美少女転校生「霧島マナ」がやってきたことから始まる。プレイヤーの選択によって展開がさまざまに変化するマルチシナリオシステムで、どんな結末が現れるかはプレーヤ次第。もちろん声優陣はレギュラー総出演だ。見たことのないシナリオやエンディングを楽しめる、エヴァンゲリオンのオリジナルスタッフが作り上げた完全新作ストーリーだから、エヴァファンなら見過ごせないはず。（三井貴美子）
