もちろん、今回の再発が待ちに待ったものということもありますが…。
今聴いても、すごい「鉄壁ぶり」ですよね。演奏も、作品としての出来も。
ここまで水も漏らさないようにきっちりと作り上げられた作品は、なかなか見当たらないです。
攻撃的ではないですが、常にビリビリとくるものが伝わってきます。


20年前というと、現在「アメリカンロックの大御所」みたいなBon JoviやMetallicaが、まだ3枚ほどしかアルバムをリリースしていない頃（もちろん彼らも若かった…）。
かたや現在の日本のミュージックシーンは、香港や台湾でライブをやったバンドは「世界進出」だとかいっている時代。
時代を再考してみれば、このアルバムが単なる懐かしさや「日本のバンド」という心情だけで語れない「凄み」を持っていることが実感できます。

ついに再発。しかもリマスター。

法外なプレミア付きをネットオークションなんかで見る度に腹が立ったものだが、これで多くのHR/HMファンに彼らの最高傑作を耳にしてもらえる機会となればと思うのだ。

当時ジャパメタの域を越えて、本場英国でもあたたかく受け入れられたのは何もBがN.Murrayだから、{Don't Leave Me Now]がJ.Wetton絡み(!)だから、プロデューサーがMagnumなどを担当したKit Woolvenだからというわけだけではなく、やはり彼らの演奏テク、ソングライティング力、だったんだなぁとつくづく感じる。

惜しいのは、24bitリマスターとはいえ、それがあまり効果を発揮していないように感じる。
もともと音質は当時としてもあんまり良くなかったほう（オリジナルCDと聴き比べても明らか）だったので期待したが…。Voももっと前に出していいし、ドラムも重くなく、抜けない。そこだけが残念。

中味は本物。世界で戦える音、ここにあり。

「ジャパメタ？」と毛嫌いする前に、聴いてみよう。
毛嫌いする人でも、本作だけは聴いてみよう。

全曲英詞＋Key入りのメロディアスでパンチがある楽曲は、
ブリティッシュの王道メタルに通じるものがありますよ！

サードの後でどうなるかと不安だったが、イギリスに渡り活動拠点を移し、その影響が良い方へ傾斜した一枚ではないだろうか。
Bがあのニール・マーレイに変わり、ジョン・ウェットンが参加するなんて当時では有り得ない出来事だった。更にドラマティックに、壮大に、憂いを帯て進化した形を存分に聞かせてくれる。
