　当時、驚きを持って迎えられた「シングル3枚同時発売」。それも単なる記録狙いではなく、「3枚が3枚共、ロック史上に残る名曲だった」事から、衝撃を巻き起こした。
　「花葬」「浸食」が割と難しい曲だったのに対し、この「HONEY」は分かり易いロックだったことから、数字的には一番ヒットした。しかし、流石はラルク。実はちゃんと「ひとひねり」ある。
　一見、爽快感のあるこの曲は、その実、病院で死ぬのを待っている人の歌なのである。そう思って聴くと、♪あなたをつれてくのさ〜 というコーラスがちょっと怖いフレーズに聞こえないだろうか？　そして、ヴァースの、♪ずっと眺めていた〜幼い頃から〜真っ白な壁に という意味も分かってくるという訳。
　所謂、ダブル・ミーニングなのだが、ちょっとなかなか書けない歌詞で、感心することしきり。hydeの作詞家としての才能が炸裂している。そしてこの曲は珍しく、作曲もhydeだ。キャッチーで良いメロディー。Promo Videoもカッコ良かったな〜。ところで、何でカラオケを付けてくれないの？

回転しながら躍動感あふれる演奏をするＰＶが
もっとも印象的だったラルクの代表曲HONEY

その映像と同じように脳が高速回転する快感が
味わえて気持ちいい１曲。とにかく痛快で攻撃的！

そしてKenちゃんのギターソロ・・・は

背筋ゾクゾクものｗ体がしびれるほどカッコイイ！

抽象的で伸縮自在、極端な解体音は

ピカソ的キュビスムみたいって表現したいよ、僕はｗ

うねり飛び跳ね続けるベースラインといえば『HONEY』。日本歴代No．1バンドの代表作。この曲は最初から最後までベースラインがうねり飛び跳ね続ける。なんというスパイラル的うねり効果。ファルセットで空中浮遊か。僕がイカれているのか、この曲がイカれているのか。間奏の全パートがグジャグジャに混ざりうカタルシスも爽快、そしてまだまだうねり飛び跳ね続けるベースラインは止まらない、歌詞もイカれている。うねるうねるベースライン、圧倒的グループを醸し出す手数の多いドラミングは躍動し、最後はお決まりのファルセットによる雄たけびである。もはや圧巻、日本歴代No．1ロックソング。

L'Arc〜en〜Cielは1991年2月、tetsuを中心に大阪で結成。1993年4月、1st ALBUM『DUNE』がインディーズチャート1位に。1996年のALBUM『True』で初のミリオンセラーを達成。1997年、東京ドームのコンサートチケットが4分で完売。1999年、2枚同時リリースのALBUM『ark』『ray』では600万枚のセールスを記録。同年、『1999 GRAND CROSS TOUR』にて65万人（全12公演）を動員。2004年、アメリカ ボルチモアのファーストマリナーアリーナで初の海外ライヴを行い、12,000人動員。2005年、『ASIALIVE 2005』では、韓国ソウルのオリンピックパーク・体操競技場、中国上海大舞台で各10,000人を動員。2006年、バンド結成15周年記念『15th L'Anniversary Live』東京ドームコンサートは即日完売、2日間で約11万人を動員。そのライブの模様が世界25ヶ国で放映。世界に誇る日本歴代NO．1ロックバンドは今後もHONEYを超えるギターヴォーカルロックを量産し続けるだろう。(767文字)
