アーティストについて

70年代より「夕焼け楽団」「サンセッツ」を率い、英国、オランダ、豪州、ニュージーランド、カナダ、ジャマイカ、アメリカ等世界各国でライブを行う。90年代はディック・リーのプロデュースをはじめ東南アジアのポップスに深く関わり、プロデューサーとして活躍。'99年には細野晴臣氏とのユニット、ハリー&マックを結成し、シンガーとしての活動も再開。プロデューサー、プレイヤーとして、さまざまなジャンルを包括した、柔軟性のある音楽を展開している。

なかなかいいです。ヨガ向きで、かなりリラックスできます。心身ともに癒されます。リズムも音質も上出来で、まるでインドにいてるみたい。濃厚な民族音楽ではなく初心者向けで初めてインド音楽を聴く方には心地のよいものに仕上がっています。わたしは寝るときやお風呂の中で半身浴をしながら聞いていますよ。おすすめです

南インドのチェンナイで、
現地ミュージシャンたちと制作されたアルバム。

久保田麻琴は、12曲中8曲を作り、
ギター、ベース、シンセなどを演奏している。

ゆったりとしたバンブーフルートの響きが心地よい「1」や
久保田のアコギがインド音楽をバックに流れる「6」、
女性ボーカルが脳髄にしみてくる「11」
タブラのリズムに男性ボーカルが乗る「12」といった曲が気持ちよく、
良質ワールドミュージックの世界にひたれる。


全体に虫の音や鳥の声がバックに流れて、
アンビエントな雰囲気があるので、
アジア気分にまったりと包まれる。

ライナーノートは、サラーム海上。

インドの古典音楽のコンピレーションかと思って買いましたが、インド風味のいつもの久保田ミュージックでした。長年インドに行くことを避けていたという久保田氏が現地ミュージシャンを使って違和感のない音楽を創り出す手腕にはお見事というしかありません。

しかし、最近の久保田氏の作品はハワイ風だったり、ブラジル風だったり、中東風だったり節操がないとも言えます。90年代前半のいろんな音楽をゴチャ混ぜにして新しい音楽を創っていた久保田氏に期待していたので少し残念です。
