クラシックでメッツオの作品集となると、一見、音楽通の愛好者向けのＣＤのような印象を受けるが、中身はそれに反して大変聴きやすく親しみやすい演奏ばかりが楽しめる、あらゆるジャンルの音楽愛好家に薦められる一枚。
歌手自身による企画プロデュースが行なわれたことも見事に功を奏し、最後まで飽きさせない選曲や曲のリストが実現されている。曲目もビゼーのカルメンやモーツァルトのフィガロ、ロッシーニのセビリアから、トーマのミニヨン、オッフェンバックのホフマン物語など、ポピュラーな曲目がずらり豪華に並んでいる。
通常の作品であれば歌手の特徴や得手不得手により曲ごとに評価が分かれるものだが、このＣＤは収録されている１２曲のどれをとっても甲乙つけ難いほどの演奏の完成度の高さが繰り返し堪能できる。全曲にわたり、とりわけ歌手の声の艶の美しさや輝きと透明感、声量の豊かさやダイナミズムのスケールの大きさが際立っているばかりでなく、フランス語・イタリア語の原語の発音のわかりやすさと正確さ、音程のぶれのなさ、個々の曲想に対する表現力の深さや豊かさなど、まさに並外れた技術と能力に裏づけられた、歌手自身の日本人離れした歌唱力の水準の高さがありのまま反映されている。
伴奏はオーケストラではないが、単独楽器による伴奏は概してシンプルで控えめ、予想外に聴き心地がよい。総合的評価として、これまでの数多のメッツオ・アリア集の「金字塔」を打ち立てたともいえる名演集である。
