と、くっだらないシャレをついつい言いたくなる、本作には「何か」がある。
聴いた者をそのディープな世界に一気に引きずり込むような“magic”と言うよりも「魔術」「呪術」と言う方がふさわしい「何か」が。


ライナーによると、M.ウォードはホワイト・ストライプスやブライト・アイズ、
さらにはあのノラ・ジョーンズからもリスペクトされるほど、アメリカでは評価されているとのこと。

かといって、玄人受けしそうな敷居の高い、取っ付きにくい音楽ではない。
本作はディープでありながらも、メロディも良く、ポップ・ミュージックとして成立しているところが素晴らしい。

M.ウォードというと、ギター引き語りという印象だったが、本作では、バンドサウンドも聞かせ、特にドラムの音が気持ちいい。
スローテンポで、ディープな1.や4.のような曲があれば、軽快で高揚感のある2.や
ドライブ感のある6.やインストの9.など（なお、2.はダニエルジョンストンのカバー。ニーコ・ケイスが存在感のあるヴォーカルで参加）も。
後半は、カントリー調の曲やハワイアン？な曲もあり、バラエティに富み、
一本調子で平板な印象を与えることなく、トータル38分を一気に聴かせます。

ぜひぜひ、聴いてほしいです。
聴くものを虜にする「何か」を本作から受けとれると思うので。
