"Kiss Me"で一世を風靡した、
元シックスペンス・ノン・ザ・リッチャーの
ヴォーカルの初のソロアルバムです。


初めて聴いたときにふいに自分の頭の中に
浮かんできたのは、
レーベルメイトでもある、サラ・マクラクラン、
そして、
ダイド・アームストロング、
メアリー・チェピン・カーペンターの３人。


質感は確かにこの３人にも似たような
世界を構築しているようにも思えるが、
その音作りやメロディーは
明らかに、彼女の手による独特なもの。


プロデュースは、上記のサラ・マクラクランでもお馴染み、
ピエール・マーチャンド。

アコースティックの音世界を得意とする
彼の方向性は、サラにも共通する方向性だが、
明らかに彼女と違う部分は、
サラがピアノを主体とした鍵盤楽器を
メインとしているが、
リー・ナッシュは弦楽器を主とする
音作りを主体としていること。

ピアノから生まれる音楽と、
ギターから生まれる音楽は、

こんなにも違うのだな、と、つくづく痛感。



最愛の息子が誕生した事による
彼女の人生においての、
嬉しさや、優しさや、時には厳しさが、
暖かな語り口で、歌われていきます。


決してそのサウンドは派手なものでは無いけれど、
彼女の中にある、カントリー、クリスチャンミュージック、
ジャズ、ロック、ポップと言った要素が、
イノセント、かつオーガニックなサウンドに乗せて、
清らかに綴られていく、そんなアルバムです。

まだ数曲しか聞いていませんが、とても心地よいです。SixpenceNoneTheRicherのときと比べて・・とはいっても、そのときも十分良かったですが、歌が上手くなったような気がします。お勧めです！！

4.0 out of 5 stars ソロアルバムで個性出すのって難しい, 2007/1/20
バンドのリードボーカルがソロアルバムを出した場合、
「これ、○○と変わらないじゃん」
ということが、結構あります。

で、正直なところ、このリー・ナッシュのソロアルバムもシックスペンスとあんまり変わりません（３曲目「My Idea of Heaven」なんかはカントリー風味が入って、ちょいと新しかったですが）。

でも裏を返せば、シックスペンスの過去のアルバムと同じくらいのクオリティは保証されているということで、十分に聴き応えはあります。
