メイキングでデ・パルマ自身が語っている通り、「スカーフェイス」と少し被って見えますが、なかなかの良作だと思います。ギャング映画にありがちの凄惨な暴力シーンもそれほどなく、最後まで飽きることなく楽しめました。個人的には「スカーフェイス」よりもこっちの方が好きですね。

今の自分から、一歩進み成長しようとすると、周りがそれを拒んだり、何かを失ったりもするときがある。この主人公もそうであり、過去を清算してあたらしい「夢」をもち、変わっていこうとする。しかしマフィアの世界はあまくなく、変わることを許されない。主人公はこの現状を受け止めるが、平穏な生活、愛するものとの生活を夢見て、現実のものとしようとする…。この映画は、実話をもとに作られており、派手な見せ場こそないが、すごく心に残ってしまうような、場面や言葉などがたくさんあります。主人公の「夢」が最後に描かれている場面に、ハッとさせられ、涙を流しました。

オープニングからパチーノのストレッチャーに乗せられたカットの長回し・・・
そしてラストへと繋がっていく物語・・・

とにかく切ない。

男としての生き様を見事に演じたパチーノの演技に脱帽。
そして若き日のショーン・ペンのいやらしさにも。

あくまで「男の世界」の話ではあるが、
これは一般社会でも状況は違えどよくある話。
非常に考えさせられる映画でもある。
満点です。
