Destiny's Childのオリジナル・メンバーだったLeToyaのデビューアルバム。
見事、BillboardでもこのアルバムがNo.1に輝き、The StylisticsのYou Are Everythingをサンプリングした、1st シングルのTornもなかなかの成功を収めてます。

一言で言えば、このアルバムはとても“旬”な作品と言える思います。
ゲストにはJermaine Dupri、Scott Storch、Jazze Pha、Mike Jones、Slim Thug、Paul Wall、Bun Bなどと、ヒット・メーカー揃い。
ある意味、これで売れなきゃ、かなりイタイ。
なので一つ一つの曲が華やかでゴージャス。
とてもキラキラ感のある作品となっています。

でも同時に凄くありきたりになってしまったのも事実。
すごくそつがなく、悪く言えばパッとしない。
悪い作品では無いので、ほとんどの人が楽しめると思いますが、“生涯大事にしていきたい作品”にはならないと思う。

“今時”な音楽が聴きたい人には、これほど良質な作品はないと思います。
でも“Destiny's Childのオリジナル・メンバー”という言葉をなくし、ひとつ上を目指すためには、これじゃあいまいちかもしれない、というのが本音かな。

ラトーヤの声は、温かみがあって可愛く好印象！ポール・ウォールやスリム・サグなどのヒューストン勢のサポートもラトーヤの声を引き立てていて、自然と耳になじみます。両者の絆を感じると供に、デスチャ脱退後、自分で道を切り拓いてきたラトーヤの頑張りが伝わってきます・・・どの曲もおすすめですが、当初アルバムにも収録される予定だったと思われるSomething 4 ya'、No MoreがMoraで配信されているので、こちらもおすすめです！１４のOutroにも胸が打たれました。

すごいぞラトーヤ!デスチャ脱退(実質解雇)劇から早6年。直後にラターウ"ィアとグループを結成するという話もあったが、結局実現しなかった模様。こんなに長い年月をかけて復活するとは。デスチャのCDではなかなか聴くことが無かった彼女の声。柔らかくシットリとした感じを存分に味わえる、楽曲もTornの他にもシングルカット出来るクオリティーのサウンド多数です。彼女が大人だな-と感じたのはブックレットの最後の方に「 過去にあった事は気にして無い。ビヨンセ、ケリー、ラターウ"ィア、大好きよ」と書いてある。ラターウ"ィアはともかく、時間が経過しているとはいえ、ビヨンセ、ケリーにこの様なメッセージを贈れる彼女の器量の大きさがうかがえる。騒動を目の当りにしたファンの一人として、救われました。
