Paula DeAndaのデビューアルバム。作家陣・ゲストにNe-Yo、Timbaland、Frankie J、Lil' Wayne、Baby Bashなどが揃えられています。

同世代のCiaraやCassieのデビュー時の華やかさに比べると地味なデビューで、知名度もそこまでないのですが、内容はしっかりしていると思います。

全編通して爽やかで聴き心地の良い、存在感のある楽曲が並びます。スマッシュヒットを記録した『Walk Away (Remember Me)』を聴いてわかるように、CiaraやCassieのような大人っぽいR&Bではなく、限りなくポップに近づけたR&Bです。それもやや古めの、懐かしさがにじみ出たポップ。どちらかというとRihannaやJojoのタイプに近く、このポップさが等身大の女の子の魅力を引き出しています。Frankie Jが制作に携わった『Wanna Be With You』は、エレクトロビートを用いた80'sサウンドを今風にアレンジしたもので、おすすめです。

特徴的な声をしているわけではないのですが、歌唱力はそれなりにあり、安定しているので安心して聴けます。個性・インパクトに欠けるため、将来性に多少の不安が残るものの、このアルバムの完成度はなかなかのものです。16歳Paula DeAndaの無限の可能性が秘められた隠れた名盤です。

amazonの『おすすめ商品』のリストから購入してみました。2006/8/9に書き込まれたレビューが、あまりにも絶賛していて『オリジナル盤発売日が2006/8/15なのに発売前になぜ感想が書けるの？』と思いながら、いろいろと調べていたら試聴できるサイトを発見！appleのiTune music store - us で、まったくおなじアルバムを...。試聴してみると、たしかに歌唱力もあるし心に染み込んで来るような心地よさもある。さっそく amazon で購入し、昨日の午前中に届いたので昼休みに聞いてみたら、とても聞きやすく良いアルバムでした。女性ボーカルのアルバムならジャンルを問わず買っていますが、久しぶりに『買って良かった』と思えて『ぜひ、どうぞ！」とおすすめできる星5つのアルバムです。

今回、発売されたアルバムは国内盤ですが、輸入盤は2006/8/15からの発売で、私は輸入盤の方を買いました。『Paula Deanda』で検索すると輸入盤の方は試聴もできるので、不安な人は試聴してみると良いですよ。歌唱力もあるし心に染み込んで来るような心地よさもある。輸入盤は、ボーナストラック分が無く13曲ですが、とても聞きやすく良いアルバムです。女性ボーカルのアルバムならジャンルを問わず買っていますが、久しぶりに『買って良かった』と思えて『ぜひ、どうぞ！」とおすすめできる星5つのアルバムです。
