５曲のNO.1ヒットを含む、US版NOW第22作目。若い世代のアーティストが時代を先導するミュージックシーン。今作も前作と同様、ニューカマーが大半を占めています。

トップを飾るのは、昨年のデビューから早くもニューアルバムをリリースしたクイーンオブダンスホール、RIHANNA。先行シングル「S.O.S」は、SOFT CELLの「Trainted Love」をサンプリングしたポップチューン。そして、2000年のデビュー以来ダンスホール界を引っ張ってきたのがSEAN PAUL。この「Temperature」で、「Get Busy」に続く年間TOP10入りを狙います。

一方、サウスブームが到来している今。風雲児CHAMILLIONAIREや、白人サウスラッパーBUBBA SPARXXX、そしてTHREE 6 MAFIAなど、要注目のジャンルです。

プロデューサーとして有名なNE-YOが自らのために曲を書き、シンガーとして成功を収めたのは今年初頭のこと。大ヒットした「So Sick」に続く「When You're Mad」もスマッシュヒットを記録。

わかり易さと癒しの要素をもつ男性ロックが支持されています。「Bad Day」をヒットさせ、一躍時の人となったDANIEL POWTERや、映画主題歌で注目を浴びたデンバー出身の４人組バンド、THE FRAY。元妻であるJESSICA SIMPSONへの想いを綴った曲がヒットしているのはNICK LACHEY。

また、KELLY CLARKSONをはじめ、K.T. TUNSTALL、SAVING JANEと、女性アダルトコンテンポラリーロックは個性派ぞろいです。

"ヒット曲"という枠で言えば、上もあれば下もありといった感じ。ですが、ジャンルの幅広さ、時代の波を押さえた選曲という点で、完成度は高いと思います。

今回のnowはかなりイイかんじ。全米で大ヒットしている曲ばっかり。ダニエル・パウターとニック・ラシェイの曲が入っているのがうれしい。その他、全米1位のリアーナ、ショーン・ポール、クリス・ブラウンまで。1枚にこんなたくさんのヒット曲が入っているのでかなりお得でしょう。できれば、you're beautifulとかwhat hurts the mostも入れてほしかったなぁ。。
