いまいち評価が低いのが気になりますね。自分はこのアルバムはこの手のアーティストの中では楽曲も歌唱力も群を抜いてレベルが高いと思います。だからあまり一緒にしないでほしいです。最近の洋楽のポップより聴き易いですし、ちょっと前の洋楽が好きという人にはおすすめですよ。

この手の若い子が次から次へデビューしているわけですが、
彼女の場合どうでしょう。
このCDにはICEDOWN、Nao'ymt、今井了介ら第一線で活躍している面々が参加しており、
各々のレパートリーのなかでもトップクラスの楽曲を揃えてきた感があります。
それだけ曲がいいです。
しかもミニアルバムとはいえこれだけ全編R&Bで固めるのは安室奈美恵やクリケイもまだ出来ていません。
実際トラックや楽曲的にはこれ以上はもう望めないんじゃないかとさえ思えます。
ではこのCDがパーフェクトなのかというととても微妙な感じ。

この楽曲群は別に安室やクリケイやエミリあたりが歌ってもそれなりに格好がついてしまいそうな気がするのです。
つまり、彼女ならではという部分が見えない。この楽曲は彼女でしかありえないというケミストリーが足りない、というか。
もちろん一枚目ですし、そこまでキャラ立ちを要求するのは酷かも知れませんが、
歌詞にも見るべきところはないし、歌も上手いということ以外伝わってこないんですよね。

なんかここいら辺が和製R&Bが普遍的なPOPSとして定着するか、
好事家の間のアイテムに留まるかの分水嶺の様な気がします。
向こうの真似ではなく、あなた自身の音が、声が聴きたいんだ！
と言ってしまうのはまだ早いのでしょうか。

7/12初日にアルバムを買いました。シングルカットの『My Girls』は、一週間前からＶＭＣのプロモＰＶで何度も見て馴染んでいましたが、アルバムも良いですよ。私は後半が好きです。『DESTINATION』、『Million Wayz』は、なかなかの完成度だと思います。特に『Baby Close Your Eyes』は、初期の宇多田ヒカルを彷彿とさせ、高校生のお父さん世代にもお勧めです。もし子供が加藤ミリヤを好きなら、ぜひメイちゃんを薦めてみてください。子供との会話が弾むかも！！
