まず、前作の曲調を期待している人にはお薦めしません。
前作は超絶打ち込みプログレッシブ・ロックだったのに対し、今作は生演奏、オーケストラ色が強いからです。
VPを意識された曲（「Disturb The Doubtful Sleep」等）もいくつかありますが、やはり独特のスピード感は感じられませんでした。

しかし、客観的（？）に見ると、どの曲も非常に聴きやすいものに仕上がっており、決して出来が悪い訳ではありません。

ＳＯ３に引き続き生音を多用した曲群は、聴き応え抜群だと思います。
個人的には「Endless High-Speed Running」と「Disturb The Doubtful Sleep」、そして「Celestial Troupe」が特に気に入りました。

スターオーシャン３のサウンドトラック同様にvol.1/2に分けての販売ですが、今回はvol.1に通常戦闘曲(A Motion of Finishing Blow)とボス戦闘曲(Never Surrender)両方を収録しています。その他にも桜庭サウンドを感じられるハードな曲も収録されています。全体ではゲームの内容もあってか重い雰囲気な曲が多く、そのためいつもの桜庭さんのＣＤと比べると少しおとなしく感じました。
永らえたる地へ・Never Surrender・喩えられぬ軫憂などは今までの桜庭作品の中でも確かな存在感を感じられ、桜庭ファンでない人にもお勧めできる一枚になっていると思います。

前作「ヴァルキリープロファイル」はゲーム自体が良かったのですが、それに加えて曲も素晴らしかったです。
その曲を担当された桜庭統さんが今作も担当されますので、かなり期待しています。

ただ「スターオーシャン３」同様リリースが複数になるのはいかがかなものかと。
どうせなら枚数が多くなってもいいですから、一度に出して欲しいものです。
