2006年ゲーリーの新譜である。
内容はここ数年変わらないブルーズの探求。
しかし、ギターは年を追うごとに円熟味を増してきている。
ゴリ押し早弾きは（本人インタビューで曰く、意識的に）少なくして、感情表現弾き（そんな言葉があるか？(笑)）に集中している。
2曲目You know my loveでの後半4分も続くソロを聴いて欲しい。
現役でここまでギターに歌わせることの出来るギタリストは少ないと思う。
セルフカバーの3曲目Midnight bluesは全体のテンポも落とし、ソロは、フリートウッドマック時代のピーターグリーンを彷彿とさせるスローブルースになっている。
この曲には、手放したと聞くピーターから譲り受けた'59のレスポールを使っているんだろうか？　
それともそれを使わなくてもここまで他のギターで出来る様になったということなんだろうか・・・　そんな想像もまた楽しいではないか。
（アルバムの写真は、ゲーリーのシグネーチャーレスポールが挿入されているんだけどね）
6曲目はアルバム"Still got the blues"にも収録されたAll your loveであるが、今回のテイクは、エリック・クラプトンのブルースブレーカーズのバージョンに限りなく近づけてある。　
曲の出だしを聴いただけで、モロコピに頬が緩んでしまうのである。

ほんとに、ブルーズもバラードも上手いと唸ってしまうニューアルバムである。

オススメはインスト曲の8曲目Cut it out　ゲーリーのアップテンポなギターが最初から楽しめます。

Prdは本人とイアン・テイラー。まんま1990年名盤「スティル・ゴット・ザ・ブルース」と同じ。同アルバム収録曲の「ミッドナイトブルース」「オールユアラブ」を今回再演、ともにためをきかせたテンポで数段上の出来です。とくにストリングスアレンジを取っ払い、むきだしの感情が迫りくる前者はゲイリーもやっと納得のいった仕上がりですよ。
リズムセクションはこのところゲイリーの片腕ダリン・ムーニー（ｄｓ）元ジェスロタル、フィルリノットのトリビュートDVDでもその地味な姿を映し出していたジョナサン・ノイス（ｂ）リッチーいうところの「器用な」男ドン・エイリー（ｋｂｄ）が固め、リーダーの歌とギターを引き立てています。1992年の「アフター・アワーズ」にのっていたような’59年レスポールスタンダードの写真が同じようなアングルで見開きで掲載されていることで示されているように、全編ギブソンＬＰとマーシャルで押しまくり。ハウリングや弦のスクラッチまでひじょうに生々しいサウンドでゲイリーの感情表現をとらえています。ゲイリーはいつもすごいのですがダメなエンジニアが魅力を半減してしまうことがありました。ミックスに耳をすませてもかなり今回はギターサウンドにこだわっています。オールマンズのやっていたエルモアジェイムズの曲、オーティスラッシュの持ち歌２曲、最終曲はアルバートキングの持ち歌、自作のインスト曲などのブルースサイドの曲群のクオリティはかなり高い。一方バラッズ分野では「ノー・リーズン・トウ・クライ」（ＥＣとは別の曲）がぬきんでている。ブルース主体でありながらアイリッシュやカントリーの要素も含めたゲイリーしか弾けないメロディックなギターソロはギタリストには必ず聴いて欲しい名曲。そのほかはややぬるい出来のため星４つとさせていただきました。なおジャケットは1995年の「ブルースフォーグリーニー」そっくり。ビル・スミス・スタジオ（クリムゾンのＢＯＸ等で有名）のクレジットでしたが、今回はスチュアート・グリーン（ピーターの親戚？）と個人名。スタジオから独立したのだろうか？まったく関連なしなのだろうか？謎だ。
