Album Details

The Canadian music hall of famer and former member of Buffalo Springfield and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young is responsible for hits like Southern Man, Heart of Gold and Harvest Moon. But on his newest record, to be titled Living with the War, Young is taking a page from Bob Dylan and putting together an album of protest songs against the actions of American President George W. Bush. One of the tracks on the upcoming release, which as of yet has no release date, is said to feature the single Lets Impeach the President whose subject is fairly obvious. Not a stranger to protest music the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young tune Ohio was written in reaction to a protest against the Vietnam War.

5.0 out of 5 stars メタル・フォーク・プロテスト、聴いて意味が解りました。, 2006/5/9
『Let's Impeach The President』を筆頭に話題だけ先走っており、
米TVのインタビューやNYN(Neil Young News)で内容を事前に見聞きしていました。
しかし、本当に2週間で仕上げるとは・・・。
Rolling Stone誌の記事等によると、プロテスト・ソングをメタルロックに味付け、
とのことで、ベトナム戦争時のボブ・ディランを想起させるとのことでしたが、
実際に試聴してみると、メタル？なのだろうか、と。
（そもそもメタルの何たるかを知らぬ私ですが・・・）
確かに、普段のニール先生のギターの音色とは微妙に違い、ややスラッシュな感じ。
ライブ感があり、グリーンデイルに近い勢いのあるアルバムかなぁ、と。
（厚いコーラスと、ドラマ性があるので、↑このような感想を持ちました）
全曲通して聴いて、10曲目で泣いてしまうかもしれません。
（一貫した力強いメッセージのせいか、一舞台鑑賞した後のように、強烈に胸に残るものがあります）

９．１１以降のブッシュの世界観と自分の世界観とずいぶん違うと言い「大統領を告発せよ」的な曲があったりプロテストソングのみの過激なアルバムです。歪んだギターの音で重苦しい曲が続きます。過去のアルバムでは「今宵、その夜」の印象にちかいのでないでしょうか。ニールヤングのファンの方にはお勧めです。彼のファン以外には少し難しいかも、そんなところで５星ではないです。
