冊子に川井さん自身が書いておられるように、全体的にクラシック調の曲が多いです。「英霊鎮魂」はモーツァルトのレクイエムの一部 (Lacrimosa) ですが、一緒に並んでいても違和感の無い曲ばかりでした。
長さは2分弱が中心ですが、BGMの性質上、一曲の中での変化が少ないため、このくらいでちょうど良いのではないでしょうか。シリアスな曲は荘厳に、悲しげな曲はしっとりと、明るい曲は元気よくと、メリハリが利いています。この一曲の短さとメリハリのおかげで、飽きずに聞けました。
ゲームのBGMとは雰囲気の違う曲が多いので、似た曲調を期待される方はレンタルDVD等で確認されてからの方が良いと思います。私自身はそれが逆に好みに合いましたので、星は4つ付けておきます。

２０代後半〜３０代以上のアニメファンにはこの方の名が出るだけで拝む者も続出する程の大御所ですが、fateに関しては２０代前半か１０代の視聴者も多いのではと思われます。サントラを実際聞いた限りでは川井氏楽曲の中でもかなり分かりやすい路線の曲が多く、私も安心しました。発売を楽しみにしていただけの事はありました。

予告で流れる「運命の夜」を聞いた時にこれは絶対サントラを買おうと決めて、本編は数回しか見ていないのですがその立場の私でも非常に満足しています。８０年代の川井氏楽曲に思い入れがあると特に共感も強いのではと思われます。

以前発売されたゲームのサントラのアレンジした曲が多かったです。
ですが、曲全体は壮大なかんじでアニメにも合っていてよかったです。私個人、ゲームのFateはやったことはないのですが、ゲームのサントラよりもこちらアニメのサントラのほうが好きです。
少し残念なのが、EDが特別バージョンのときに使われていた曲がはいってなかったことですね。
