ビル・エヴァンスが亡くなったのは1980年9月15日。
このパフォーマンスが収録されたのが1980年8月9日。
エヴァンスが亡くなる前に病院に運ばれた時、医者が呆れるほど手遅れ状態だったというから、
その1ヶ月前にこの演奏が映像に収められたとき、かなり具合が悪かっただろうと思うのが普通だろう。
そういう事情を知らない人が「この1ヵ月後に亡くなったんだよ。それも事故じゃなくて肝硬変とかでね。」
と教えられたとしたら、かなり驚くだろう。
それほど、この演奏は完成度が高く、不調と思わせる兆候を感じさせない。

1曲目の"Re: Person I Knew"から、ピアノとベースが絶妙に絡む。
マーク・ジョンソンというこの若き（この頃は）ベーシストはたいしたもんだなぁ〜とつくづく思うのだが、
彼のインタープレイはラファロを彷彿とさせるくらい刺激的でありながら、
その滑らかな絡み方は特有で、エヴァンスのピアノにすんなり、かつ見事にマッチしてしまうから怖い。
"Nardis"という曲は、個人的に最も好きな"Explorations"からかなり形を変えてしまっているが、
「このトリオで演奏するのが楽しくてたまらない」と言っていたエヴァンスが、
「ジョンソンとラバーバラのトリオでこの曲を演奏するならこの形！」と主張しているような気がする。

最後の"Nardis"で、マーク・ジョンソンのソロが終わってトリオが一緒に演奏し出すときに見せるエヴァンスの微笑みに、
彼がこのトリオを愛していた証を見るような気がする。

エバンスが亡くなる一ヶ月前のライブ映像で、全四曲と少ないがどれもどれも素晴らしくエバンスらしさが出ていてはずれはないと思う。特に最後のNardisはそれぞれのソロが終わるところからテーマに戻るときの意気の合わさったプレイが最高。最後にエバンスのインタビューもあり、このトリオの印象やトリオばかりやる理由など音楽に対するエバンスの考え方が語られている。最後、エバンスの写真撮影をしようとする人にに対する態度が印象的。
