ホラー映画界を代表する２大殺人鬼による競演。
通常の２人の殺し方パターンが、
より過激に（むしろおおげさに）展開された、
お約束な集まりみたいな世界なんで、
むしろ、お笑いの領域ですな。

とはいえ、話の展開は意外と出来ていて、
ファンが喜ぶようなツボをうまくおさえた監督の手腕でしょう。
最大級の賛辞として、非常に良く出来たB級映画、って感じ。

当初あまりのバカさ加減から駄作と評価していたのだが、観直してみると不思議なことにそこそこ面白いことに気がついた。設定としてはやはりロジックなど存在せず低レベルで滅茶苦茶だが、そのメチャクチャさが魅力なのだ。矛盾点や論理的説明を気にする方々にはこのような作品は楽しめないだろう。あの腹立たしいほど最低だった「チャッキーの花嫁」のロニー・ユーが監督なのだが細かいところに気を配っているのが解かってくるとじつは良い仕事をしていたことに気がつく。フレディは幻覚的殺人描写でジェイソンはストレートなスプラッターだ。このふたつを上手くミックスし取り入れている。８０年代ホラーの定石だった惨殺シーンの合間にエロティックな描写を入れるやり方もあからさまにやってのけていて笑わずにはいられなかったしグラマラスなバカ女優ばかり登場するのも８０年代のテイストで微笑ましい。エルム街シリーズでも傑作と評価できるパート１、２、３までのテイストで仕上がっているのも成功の要因だろう。ファイナル・ナイトメアのようなコメディ路線だったらフレディとジェイソンの爆笑珍道中になっていたかもしれない。そんなことをされたら私は今でも絶望の淵を彷徨っていただろう。

劇場で最初に見た時は、若い頃から慣れ親しんで（！？）きた2大ホラーヒーローが、1つの画面に登場していることに歓喜しました。
で、DVD発売直後、レンタルしてきて再度見てみると、フレディとジェイソンが出ている以外特筆すべきところの無い作品だと気付きました。
そして今、どうしても見たくなって買ってしまいました。。。

結論から言ってしまうと、「エルム街の悪夢」と「13日の金曜日」が好きな人へのファンサービスでしかないんです。
個人的には、この作品が面白いかどうかよりも、よく知ってるあの2人が対決するという事実だけがこの作品の価値です。
脚本には無理がありすぎて展開が強引過ぎますし、演出やカメラワークも平凡過ぎて退屈です。
まぁB級ホラーではよくあるケースですが、それにしても酷すぎるんですよねぇ。

作品の性質上、最大の難点といえるは、両シリーズの設定やキャラが活かしきれていない点です。
わざわざ2人を引っ張り出してきたのも彼らの知名度があるからこそ成立したものの、この作品だけでそれぞれの個性を感じる事はできません。
もっと面白く作ることができたと思うのが心から惜しいと思えます。
ただ、ファン心理としてはそれでも見たくなってしまうんですけどねぇ。

ということで、フレディとジェイソンが好きな人は見る価値があると思います。
両キャラクターに特に思い入れの無い人は見ない方がいいかも。。。
