毎回、最新の曲を取り入れた豪華プログラムで人気を集めているライヴ録音シリーズです。若手作曲家アッペルモントの交響曲第１番が目玉ですが、これが思ったほどでもありませんでした。解説によると、スパークの「ダンス・ムーヴメンツ」のようにアマチュアの限界にとらわれることなく自由に作曲された、そうです。たしかにグレードは高いのですが、ただ複雑なだけで面白みに欠けているような気がします。あくまで、私個人の感想ですが。。。
アッペルモントの特徴である強いストーリー性は健在です。
アッペルモントは２００６年現在まだ若いので、将来に大きな期待がかかっています。ですから、この若さでこれだけの曲が書けるのはすごいんですけどね。。。

　井上道義氏のタクトということもあり、 市音のまた新しい一面が見られる録音である。
ただし、全般にわたって演奏に不満はないものの、曲目的には面白みに欠けるといった感がないでもない。

　そのような録音の中でも、「ウィズ・ハート・アンド・ヴォイス」は楽しめる作品であり演奏であると思う。
いわゆる”吹奏楽”の楽しみといったものが感じられ、演奏も申し分ない充実したサウンドが楽しめる。
この曲はコンサートのオープナーとしても抜群であったと思う。
その他、順に見ていくと、
　「日本スケッチ」 はアマチュアがやると退屈になりそうな曲だが、やはりこういう曲の作りこみはさすが。
　「主題と変奏」は特にとりあげるべきか判断に迷う。ここではあえて何も書かないことにしたい。
　「ギルガメシュ」はアッペルモントらしいサウンドだが、音楽的にそこまで面白いかと問われると難しい。

　ともかくも、演奏が充実しているが、収録曲のほうは…といった１枚になっている。
収録曲に気になるものがあれば購入してみる　というスタンスをお勧めする。
