 『ビッグ』『プリティ・リーグ』といったコメディタッチのヒューマンドラマが得意なペニー・マーシャルが、人間の尊厳についての問いかけを患者と医師の交流を通して美しく描いている。ロバート・デ・ニーロの壮絶な熱演に目がいくが、受けに回ったロビン・ウィリアムズの抑えた演技も実に素晴らしい。ペネロープ・アン・ミラー演じる父の見舞いに病院を訪れる女性とレナードとの食堂でダンスシーンは、忘れがたい名場面だ。そこに流れるピアノの調べがあまりにもせつなく、思わず胸をしめつけられる。（麻生結一）

　人生の素晴らしさとは使い古されたベタな言葉かもしれない。しかし、この映画は、嗜眠性脳炎というずっと眠りに落ちて体が硬直してしまう病気の患者レナードが、ある薬によって目覚めるという奇跡（実際にあった話）を描き、ともすれば忘れがちな人生の喜び･素晴らしさを静かに教えてくれる作品である。
　多くの人にとって夜寝て翌朝目覚めたり、自分の意思で行きたい方向に歩き行きたい場所へ行ったり、誰かと他愛のない話をしたり、ふと会った人に恋に落ちたり・・・、というのはごく当たり前である。しかし、そういった当たり前の日常生活を当たり前に送れる事というのは実はとても素晴らしいことなのだ。当たり前のことというのはその価値になかなか気づく事ができない。当たり前すぎて価値がないように見えるからだ。
　レナードの姿を見れば、誰でもふと自分が生きているということの価値、人生の喜びを教えられるに違いない。日常生活を送っている中で起きるいろいろなことに対して、あらためて純粋な気持ちになることができるような、そんな作品でした。

「レナードの朝」。名優ロビン・ウィリアムス、そして希代の名優ロバート・デ・ニーロのコンビで演じられた作品です。

難病で、一生目が覚める事のないと言われた病から、奇跡的に意識を吹き返し「人間」として生活する事の出来た患者たち。その中にデ・ニーロ扮するレナードが活き活きと人生に「目覚め」、謳歌したその時々…。

しかし、病は再び患者たちを半昏睡状態にさせてしまう。その時のデ・ニーロの演技…これは僕は演技には、演技とは思えません、今でも。再度昏睡状態に向かうレナードの最後の人間生活としての「動き」…僕はこれに感動以上の感銘を受けました。

久しぶりに観たいなあと思って鑑賞しました。素晴らしい映画です。人生の２時間を割いて鑑賞下さい。

レナードに対して、最初は応援していた。しかし中盤には腹が立った。だけど最後にはとても切なくなった。

一生懸命に生きようとする姿は、時に惨めに、時に熱くさせられた。

見終わったとき、真剣に「生きる」という事を考えいこう。と思いました。

そんな作品でした。
