全世界から絶賛の嵐を呼んだ前作a dead sinking storyから3年振りとなる、通算4枚目フルアルバム。envyの持つ悲愴感漂う歌詞の世界、希望に満ちた音、そして繊細な音の広がりと轟音の塊が圧倒的な存在感を生み出し、他の追随を許さないオリジナリティー溢れる壮絶な全7曲を収録。収録時間57分54秒。

【アーティストについて】
92年頃にenvyの前身となるバンドを始め、95年にメンバーチェンジをするのを機にバンド名をenvyに変更。今迄に4枚のアルバム、2枚のミニアルバム、This Machine Kills, Endeavor, Six Pence, Iscariote, Yaphet Kotto 等とのスプリットレコードをリリース、その他のコンピレーションにも参加している。envy のサウンドは、轟音と絶叫に激しさと美しさが共存するもはやハードコアというジャンルには収まらない独自のスタイルを持ち、国内外のハードコア、ポストロック、インディーファンなどから多くの支持を得ている。また今迄にヨーロッパ、アメリカ、香港、韓国、中国などをツアーし、2003年には MOGWAI が運営するROCK ACTION RECORDS より a dead sinking story をリリースし、MOGWAI の日本ツアーのフロントアクトを勤める。2004年には All the Footprints You've Ever Left and The Fear Expecting Ahead を同レーベルよりリリースし、 All Tomorrow's Parties Festival に出演後、イギリスツアーを行った。また ISIS/27 のツアーにも参加。2005年6月にフランス/ル・マンで行われた「FURYFEST」に出演し絶賛される。
尚、envy は2002年に 自主レーベルの SONZAI RECORDS を立ち上げ、自身の作品や、国内外のバンド(NICE VIEW, the sun, city of caterpillar, hot cross, yage, this machine kills , yaphet kotto) の作品をリリースしている。

孤高のバンドが辿り着いた、
ただただ圧倒的に美しい境地。
轟音が滲ませる静寂は、
そこがどこであるか、その音が何者であるか、
あらゆるジャンル的問いを無効としながら、
ひたすら彼方へとのぼっていく。

聴く人を選ぶアルバムだとは思いますが、僕個人で言えば、
国内外を含め、これほど奥底まで震えた一枚はありません。
彼らには迷うことなく、このままどこまでも突き進んでほしい。

僕は今までたくさんの音楽を聞いてきました。基本的にはポストロックとかシューゲイザーが大好きなんですが、このENVYというバンドを友達に『とにかく聞いてみろ!』といわれ渋々聞いてみたらブっとびました。なんかハードコアってただ叫んでうるさいだけだと思っていたら違ったんです。ひたすら美しい感動的なギターのメロディとドラマティックなリズム隊、それにこの素晴らしい歌詞の叫びが優しく全身を包んでくれます。全てを解放してくれるようなそんな気分になります。この人たちの音楽には愛とか光とかそういう類の言葉がたくさんでてきます。最初は絶望的に聞こえる人もいるかもしれないですがそれは最終的には希望に・・・?まぁ聞いてください。最後に一言言えばモグワイが叫んでるって感じですよ!やばいでしょ?

初めて生でライヴを観たのは、Corruptedとのジョイントでの事。
ただただ、素晴らしかった。
次に観たのは、CONVERGEの来日公演。
これまた、素晴らしい。
正直、ここまで素晴らしいとは思っていなかった。
ISISに通ずる壮大なスケールの音楽性を持つ、
日本ではただひとつの存在だけに一目は置いていた。

地下音楽を聴く奴ならば「君の靴と未来」が、
どれだけ美しい名盤かは理解している事だと思う。
怒りの奥底にも、優しさが溢れていたはずだ。

そして今作もハードコアに対する愛情に満ち溢れている…。

ISISとの共振が加速し、美メロと激情、その緩急を明確に打ち出している。
これまた素晴らしかった前作「a dead sinking story」でも、
既にその方向性は定まっていたが、
今作も臆する事なく信念を貫いた印象だ。

過去、Mogwai、CONVERGE、ISIS、Corrupted、心の底からリアルに音楽を愛するバンドとも共演している。
緩やかな波が、やがて巨大な大津波へと変貌する。
envyにはもっと大きく巣立ってほしい。そう思えるアルバムだ。
