たしかに2ndから大きく変化していると言わざるを得ないため、評価はわかれるかもしれません。しかし、私はこれは素晴らしい進歩なのではないかと思います。

一番かわったのはバンドのアンサンブルを前面に押し出してきたトコ。しかし、そのせいで、phoenixのお洒落感が失われているかといえば、そんな心配の必要は全くなし！メロディの秀逸さは変わらず、というより更なる磨きがかかっているため、聴いていて大変心地いいです。シチュエーションとしては、ドライブに最適でしょうが、ショップやカフェなどでかかっていても全く違和感がないでしょう。

シングルの４は今までのphoenixの集大成ともいうべき、秀逸な曲。今までのファンも楽しめるのではないでしょうか。３，９，１０など、ポップさ倍増の曲も、前向きな気持ちにさせてくれるポジティブナンバーとしておすすめ。

お洒落で、エモーショナルなギターポップを探している方には絶対にオススメ！

2ndからの変化に驚く人も多いと思いますが、私はPhoenixらしさが練りこまれている作品だと思います。
海外の評価もそれほど悪くないです。Tahiti80やCardigansなど、2ndｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ以降に曲の感じが変わるのはPOPではよくある事だと思います。
私はお勧めです！

前作、前々作を聴きこんで新譜を待ち焦がれていた人間には
楽しめないでしょう。はっきり言って別バンドだと言ってもよいです。

以前は現行のR&B,Hip-Hop的なリズムを取り入れた野心的な
独自のポップサウンドを展開していたPhoenix。

今作では所謂ストロークス以降のロックバンドサウンドに
近づいたような気がします。
というか、ギターやら無機質ぎみなリズムやらはストロークスに結構似ています。ストロークス好きな人なら大丈夫かも？ですね。
それから、曲のメロディ、高めのキーの問題からか、ヴォーカルが生きていません。前作までの曲の良さが大幅に減っています。

せっかくサマソニでの来日楽しみにしていただけに残念。
