元々Ｂのミトが「ＣＯＶＥＲ　ＡＬＢＵＭ」と書いたものを、Ｖｏ.Ｐの原田郁子さんが読み間違えたのがこのアルバム名の由来らしい。
それがしっくり来る音だと思う。

いい意味での大人のお遊びを地でやっているような、肩の力抜け切ってるけど、自分達の音を出しているというか。

サマーヌードは確かに賛否両論らしい。
元々夏の野外フェスのＳＥとして使用されたものを、あまりに空気感が良かったので誤魔化さず再録せず、そのまま使おうという事で収録したらしいです。
こういう姿勢を貫けたのは、カバーアルバムならではだと。
オリジナルじゃ、こんな遊びはなかなか出来ないし。

このアルバム聞いてたら「あぁなんか幸せそうでいいなぁ」と思わずニヤけちゃいます。
音を追求するというより、音と音のスキマに体を埋める感じで聞くといいと思います。

体力なんて大ありだと自分は思う。力を抜いて一発取りだけでかなりのレベルの音を出している姿はなかなかだ。お馴染みの曲もあるし、そうでないのもあるけれど、原曲を知ってしまっていれば違和感を感じるかもしれない。でもそれを踏まえて＜好き＞だと言える人はクラムボンのファンだと思う。

自分はDVDでしかライブを見ていない似非クラムボン・ファンで、かつ濃厚なSoft Machineのファンなので`As Long As He Lies Perfectly Still'は、ちょっとムリしてごまかしているかな〜（苦笑）と思うのだけども、そもそもこんな大曲をカバーするのかクラムボンは!! という驚きの方が大きい。自分は原曲を知らないけれど、YMOの`以心電信'をカバーしている音の仕上がりは途方もない（スゴい）。

ともあれ、郁子さんとミトさんの声が好きでない人は、そもそもこれは選んでしまっていけないのかもしれない。でもこれはアルバム自体の評価というより、個人の「すききらい」の問題なので、ファンであれば「買い」だし、そうでない人は止めておく方がいいかもしれない。

自分はチョイスされる曲の一曲一曲に同感できるし、こうしたものがクラムボンを構成しているのかなと感じてとてもうれしい一枚に感じた。あなたはどう？

浮遊感が心地よい作品なのですが、それだけでなくドラムが作り出すリズムや間が最も印象的で、伊藤氏を中心としたアンサンブルが紡ぎ出す音の増幅感が音楽を濃くしています。全体も様々なジャンルが上手く纏まり、創造的な音の残響がまだ脳の奥でさざめき続け、最後まで大波と小波が緩やかに寄せては返すようなトリップ感もありました。

先ず「PRAYER」のカバー手法から凄いなと思いました。矢野顕子自身もそのカバー手法が有名で（『ピヤノアキコ。~the best of solo piano songs~ (SACD-Hybrid)』）、曲の徹底的な分解と斬新な再構築を見せるのですがクラムボンのカバー世界もそれに似て、単に洋服を着替えるのでなく、原曲の核心と行間を理解、抽出し、それを彼ら独特の奥行きある宇宙へ誘うカバー構成をみせてくれるのです。あのパット・メセニーと矢野が生んだ、満ちてゆく透明さに原田氏の声のアプローチも抜群です。

ソフトマシンの原曲はフュージョン的な神秘性を持ち、そのサイケデリックさが今作へ見事にフィットします。「外出中」は原曲のリズムを、ピアノからファンクに。ドラムが特にカッコイイ。「波よせて」は原田氏の柔らかさが“うぇいばー”という響きをより良い味にします。

ここから２曲はビートルズ『アンソロジー』要素でデモ音源のようなもの。聞かせるより歌が生れる空気を伝え、「サマーヌード」も「アクロス〜」も歌の素朴味と雑音交じりの緩さが逆に作品に味を作ります。他方「ナイトクルージング」はそれまでの浮遊感を継ぎ質感は原曲よりもっとアンビエントです。宇宙が部屋を飲み込んでゆく音は印象的。

「以心電信」はYMO楽曲からか音作りに気合を感じます。「カルアミルク」は秀逸で、バンクバンドのカバーと違うポストロック的な虚無感が漂い、その空気は「おだやかな暮らし」へも。この２曲は聴き所です。TheBandはカントリーやフォーク色が強く、リヴォンの嗄れた声を永積崇が独特な風情で表します。
