暴虐背徳大魔人、グレン・ベントン先生率いる真性サタニック・デス・メタルバンドの凶悪８ｔｈアルバムは、新ギタリストにMILLENIUMやICED　EARTHなどの活躍で知られる名手ラルフ・サントーラと、醜悪デス・メタルバンドCANNIBAL　CORPSEを脱退したジャック・オーウェンという新たな血を得た結果、紛れもなく過去最高傑作と言えるにふさわしい作品に仕上がった。

イマイチ煮え切らない内容だった近作の鬱憤を晴らすかのような、ある種爽快な仕上がりは往年のファンのみならず、新たなファン層を開拓するであろう新鮮な響きに満ちている。

とにかく何がスゴイって、狂気のデス・メタリックな暴走から突如として湧き上がるメロディックなギター旋律の奔流の充実っぷり。

これまで数多くの作品でその才能を発揮してきたラルフの腕前は言わずもがなだが、ジャックのギタープレイの素晴らしさも特筆に価する。CANNIBAL　CORPSEの音楽性からは微塵も想像のつかない超メロディックなプレイの数々には驚きを禁じえない。

一聴した感じではソロは全てラルフ担当かと思いきや、クレジットを見てみるとそこにはジャックの名が挙がっているではありませんか(@_@)

いや〜、いいギタリストだね（＾＾
確かにこれだけ弾ければCANNIBAL　CORPSEでは持て余すだろーね（汗）

無論、ギターだけではなく、楽曲の出来もなかなかのモノ。やや一辺倒な気もしないでもないが、徹頭徹尾ブラストの嵐が吹き荒れ、グレン先生のイーヴルな咆哮が響き渡るその世界観には、まさに「暴君」という言葉がドンピシャ。

暴虐なベクトルと華麗なベクトルが己を剥き出しにして対極でせめぎあう姿は、完成度云々を抜きに、全ての文句を黙らせる力を秘めている。

強力。

アンチ・クライストであるグレン・ベントン率いるDEICIDEオリジナルアルバムとしては8枚目。ここ最近は勢いが無くなっていた感があったが、前作「Scars of〜」で多少その片鱗が見えたものの、今回はメロディアスなギターソロが大暴れ。ギターのホフマン兄弟が解雇され、元カンニバル・コープスのギタリストを含む二人が新たに加入した様です。勿論、元々持っている突進力と邪悪さはそのままで、たるい曲なんて今回はありません。生粋のブルータルデスマニアの方を除けば今作がDEICIDEの最高傑作と言ってオススメしても過言ではないと思います。

5.0 out of 5 stars まさにDEICIDEの傑作アルバムの一枚！, 2007/1/23
　アメリカを代表するデスメタルバンド、DEICIDEはキャリア15年と言うベテランデスメタルバンドの一つでもあり、デスメタル系音楽の開拓者でもあるデスメタルバンドとしては偉大なる存在と言えよう。そのDEICIDEの通算8枚目のアルバムが本作である。

　DEICIDEの中心人物のグレン　ベントン(Vo、B)は悪魔思想者でも有名で、また反キリスト教派だと言うのでDEICIDEを良く知らないメタルファンはDEICIDEをブラックメタルバンドではないかと思うものがいるだろうが、コンセプトはブラックメタル系バンドと一緒だが、サウンドは正統派デスメタルと言うにふさわしいサウンドスタイルだ。少し詳しく言えばSLAYERを彷彿させるギターサウンドにデスメタル独特のブラストドラミングが見事マッチしたサウンドこそがDEICIDEのサウンドスタイルであり本作もスローな曲も少しあるものの全体的にそういった感じの曲調なので聴き応えも良い。個人的に言うと本作は前半より後半の方が勢いがあるような気がするが、作品自体に大きな影響は見られないと言ってもいいだろう。本作はDEICIDEの本来のサウンドが味わうことが出来る上、デスメタルの真髄と言えるサウンドを聴くことが出来るのでデスメタルファンだったら一度でもいいから聴いてみるべきかもしれない。個人的には本作はDEICIDEの最高傑作までは言えないかも知れないが、DEICIDEの３大傑作の一つと言っても過言ではないだろう。
