ここ数年観た映画の中で、
圧倒的であり、情熱的である、
展開に起伏が激しいまでにあるが、
見事に引き込まれる。
ビビッドな映像美が、暑苦しいまでに
エネルギッシュ。
犬が媒介。

　大きく三部構成で描かれる。接点は交差点でのクラッシュ。
　兄嫁を愛し闘犬に身を滅ぼす男，売れっ子モデルと彼女を求め家族を捨てた男，元テロリストの殺し屋。それぞれの運命が，直接的に，ある者にとっては間接的に事故に関わっている。
　欲望か贖罪か，それとも解放か。テーマの捉え方は様々だろうが，根底にあるのは明るさ。それがメキシコシティのせいなのか音楽のせいなのかは分からない。そしてどのストーリーにも登場する犬。彼らはただひたすら自分を愛してくれる者に従順な瞳を向ける。神のような赦しの瞳。
　映像も音声もいい。三種のミュージッククリップも◎

人を愛すること、愛するが故に傷つく人々をリアルに描いた10年に1つの名作。

『21グラム』もそうだが、複数のキャラクターの異なるストーリーが意外なところでつながっていく作りは見事としか言いようのないくらい絶妙で圧巻。
重いテーマながらどこか希望を残す、そんなものを作らせたらきっとこの監督はピカイチなのでしょう。
個人的には元ゲリラ兵で今は殺し屋として生きる老人の話が一番好きです。人を殺して生きている人が、もし自分の愛するものを何者かに殺されたら･･･。
そんな皮肉な話の中に、どこか考えさせられるものがありました。
