手嶌 葵のデビューシングル。2006年公開、スタジオジブリ宮崎吾朗第一回監督作品「ゲド戦記」の挿入歌。萩原朔太郎の詩「こころ」に着想を得た宮崎吾朗監督が作詞、NHK「みんなのうた」などでも知られる谷山浩子が作曲。どんな言葉も追いつかない、彼女のすばらしい歌声は、時に切なく時に優しく、聴くものの気持ちを掻き立て虜にして行きます。心に深く沁みいるその歌は、懐かしさと切なさを現代人の心に覚えさせる現代のフォークソングとも言える楽曲に仕上がっている。

「テルーの唄」は「ゲド戦記」の挿入歌です。
『「テルーの唄」を好きです』と言って下さる方の様に私も宮崎吾朗監督の素敵な詞と谷山浩子さんの綺麗なメロディーが大好きです。 小さな頃から大好きなスタジオジブリの作品の歌を歌える、そのひとつの作品がたくさんの素晴らしい方々の力によって出来上がっていくのを見られてとても幸せです。

【アーティストについて】 2006年6月7日「テルーの唄」にてデビュー。「ゲド戦記」の挿入歌「テルーの唄」の歌唱を行い、また劇中ヒロイン<テルー>の声優も担当する。 2004年と2004年に、出身地である福岡で行われたTEEN'S MUSIC FESTIVAL協賛「DIVA」に出場。その歌声が聴衆を魅了したものはもちろん、2005年の3月には韓国で行われたイベント「日韓スローミュージックの世界」にも出演し好評を博した。その当時の彼女の歌が、スタジオジブリ鈴木プロデューサーと、今回の「ゲド戦記」の監督でもある宮崎吾朗氏の耳に届く事になり、デビューへの足掛かりとなった。

手嶌さんの声は一言では言い切れない程の"パワー"を秘めていると感じます。
聴くたびに安らぎが感じられる････そんな声だと。
それを最大限に引き出しているのが、美しい音楽。
この曲は聴く人に安らぎを与えてくれる曲といってもいいのではないでしょうか。
今後の活躍がとても楽しみなアーティストです！

　いい歌詞、そして素朴な歌い方。なにかノスタルジックな感じがして
頬にじんわりと涙がたれてくるそんな唄です。

　ヒーリング効果も私はあると思います。何かこころが洗われた想いがする
そんな唄です。低価格ですのでぜひ！！

誰が言ったかは知らないが、「もう世界の詩は書き尽くされた」という言葉を聞いたことがある。

また、言葉を使う職業柄からか、私も時折「現代ほど詩が相応しくない時代はない」と、厭世的に思いがちになることがある。

しかし、そんな現代にあっても、詩が生まれる土壌は健在だった。萩原朔太郎の「こころ」に触発されて、宮崎吾朗監督が作詞されたというこの『テルーの唄』は、せわしなく動き回る亡者のような現代人への鎮魂曲（レクイエム）のようでもあり、精神の貧困にあえぎ苦しむ人類への子守唄のようにも聴こえたり、まっとうに生きようとして孤独にもがく人々の心の叫びを代弁し、あるいは、そんな孤独な人に寄り添って、一人想いを馳せるような、太古の万葉集の恋の歌、愛の歌のようにも聴こえる。

これほど深い慰めを与えてくれる唄を、私は他に知らない。（個人的に「癒し」という言葉をあまり好まないので、あえて「慰め」と言いたい。）

そして地母神に抱かれるような安堵感や、幾億の細胞が知っている、はるか昔のことを思い出すような懐かしさを感じる。
