3D一枚マップ上で戦略と戦術が融合した戦略級シミュレーションゲーム。2~3世紀の中国における魏・呉・蜀三国時代を背景に、三国時代の英雄の1人となって中国統一を目指す。本作では、君主制を採用し、シリーズ初の3D一枚マップとターン制の融合により戦略・戦術がシームレスに融合した戦闘シーンを実現するとともに、じっくり考えて楽しむシミュレーションゲームならではの醍醐味を追求しており、プレイヤーはそれぞれが思い描く三国時代の世界を自由に遊びつくすことができる。内政や戦闘、外交などを繰り返しながら、自勢力の富国強兵をはかり、最終的に強力な自勢力を築きあげ、敵対勢力との戦闘に勝利して版図を拡大し、中国全土の統一をめざす。また本作では、戦法を駆使した頭脳的な戦闘を実現したほか、「技巧」を溜めて思い通りに勢力を強化することもできる。前バージョンよりも進化した一騎打ち・舌戦も搭載。シナリオは、184年「黄巾の乱」から225年「南蛮征伐」までの史実シナリオ7本に、仮想シナリオ「英雄集結」の全8本を用意。

別シリーズの「信長の野望・革新」が良い出来だったので期待しましたが･･･
三国志の最新作は中途半端な仕上がりでした。

内政と合戦を同じ３Dマップ上にしたのは革新風でいいんですが、はっきりいって
見づらいだけで、操作性は最悪です。
内政も限定された場所しか開発できず、すぐにやることがなくなります。
わざわざRTS風の３Dマップにした意味がよくわかりません。

そして一番の問題は敵AIのおそまつさ。
上級にしても誰も攻めてきません。

唯一ほめられるのは、三国無双風に派手なポリゴンキャラ劇の一騎打ちですが、
そんなとこ作り込む前に基本がなってないのでお話になりません。
どうしても買いたい方は公式サイトで体験版を配ってますので、それを試してからにしましょう。

本作は歴代の中でも１、２を争う駄作ですね。なんといっても、つまらないのが内政です。開発できるスペースが少ないので１年ほどで開発完了ですから、やることがすぐなくなります。そうなると戦闘しか残らないのですが、こちらも特技が一人一個で効果も地味なものが多くつまらないです。あと、操作性も悪く、城門近くの戦闘で移動のつもりが入城になったり、不本意に他の部隊に追従したりと誤操作の要素が盛りだくさんです。また、サポートも歴代で最低で発売から３ヶ月が経つのに新シナリオも出ません。ＰＳ２などの三国無双などのヒットに比べて、ＰＣタイトルの旨みが少ないのは分かるのですが従来からのファンからは寂しいものがあります。

コーエーさん、最近どうかしてますよね?システムは信長の革新ぽいけど使い回し?って感じで。それになぜ君主でしかプレイできなくなったんでしょう?グラフィックに凝るあまり肝心のゲームシステムが最悪で、そしてノートPCじゃ動かないんじゃなぁー。とにかく残念! 買わなきゃよかった、と思わせる一品です。
